Well he sure called a lot of sweeps and screens and 3 yard in-routes so I'm not very impressed.
seriously... This offense looked and acted handicapped last night. They abandoned the running game to early (understandable for a 1st timer to panic), and then played a bunch of scrubs at wideout. They couldn't get open and they couldn't catch. Cody was running for his life... however, I didn't mind the 2d half rollouts since they were designed to keep cody from being killed.Kiesau didn't call the RB screens. Cody looked around and when no one was open he went with the screen as a last resort

I think the bigger question is what is Denver Johnson doing?
committed to the run when you are getting 1 yard per carry is ridiculous... He made adjustments but the boat had too many leaks.
How do you guys think he did? Overall there weren't as many WTF moments imo.
Are we sure Hellaf$$k didn't call the plays on Sunday?
Kiesau panicked and threw out the gameplan after 2 series.
Hawkins obviously did not prepare him to call plays in a game situation. Plays were coming in too late and the personnel groups that went with particular plays had everyone confused. There was no time for Cody and the WRs to make their pre-snap reads. Scott disappeared from the game. B-Lock wasn't used after busting a touchdown. Frankly, it was an abortion and it was made worse by the fact that Hawkins stood idly by and allowed it to continue instead of stepping in and showing some leadership as the head coach.
P.S. And I'm not really blaming Kiesau. He's smart. He's a good recruiter. He's a good teacher. He's philosophically sound as an offensive coordinator. He just had no game experience and Hawkins failed in his job as head coach... to coach the coaches. Instead, he's dicking around as a WR coach and failing to get Simmons and Wright prepared to play so Espinoza (an Ivy League talent) ends up starting.
I hope he's a fast learner. I think he took his game plan for granted and just figured it was going to work. Then he got smacked in the mouth and freaked out.Kisea's lack of preparation was obvious. But maybe I need to be more patient with him. I hope he can devise a couple of gadget plays, add new wrinkles or variations to some of the plays they currently run. He also has to have more imagination and demand proper execution of the plays he does call.
