Matches thread- Volleyball Set To Host No. 19 USC (Friday, 8:00 PM) and No. 13 UCLA (Saturday, 7:00)

Buffs had a few point lead much of the early part of the 3rd, the Bruins tied it up, but then the Buffs have come on a little and have a 15-13 lead at the media timeout.

Buffs build a nice ~5 point lead, but then have given up a few in a row, so call their 1st timeout- still up 19-17.

Ouch- all elements of the Buffs game falling apart here late in the 4th, but they still have a chance- down 20-22 as they take their last timeout of the set. (Note- phantom touch that the refs did NOT overturn for some reason cost the Buffs a point.)

Nice- Buffs have come back STRONG, and get an ace to get to match point at 24-23. ucla takes their last timeout.

Shoot- ucla gets the 4th 28-26. Buffs are used to 5 setters, however, so hope they come out strong. (Believe the Buffs had 3 or so match points on their serve, but oh well- things happen.)

8-5 Buffs as the team change sides in the 5th. (TV went to ad- don't know if it's a media or ucla timeout.)

Ucla gets the win 16-14 in the 5th.

Oh well- great effort by the Buffs, and a split against 2 ranked teams for the weekend certainly isn't a bad result overall (although I'm sure they may think about the lost 19-14 lead in the 4th for a little while).

On to 2 tough road matches against the Oregon schools next week- a couple more chances for impressive wins in the tough Pac 12.
