Official 2025 Fall Camp Thread

Not kool-aid. The recruiting dept. got after it on the OL and DL.
I mean I agree on the OL but part of me thinks from Center to RT we have JAG’s. Hill and Seaton are legit. But are the other guys just average? Crisler was mediocre and Johnson barely played. The Center was a part-timer in a bottom conference

Color me cautiously optimistic

LT Seaton
LG Xavier Hill (first-team All-American Athletic Conference at Memphis last year.)
C Zarian McGill (experienced C with over 1,900 snaps at La Tech and has size at 6’2” 320 lbs., way bigger than Cash)
RG Zy Crisler (earned All-Big Ten honorable mention twice at Illinois and was a three-year starter for the Illini, 6’6” 340 lbs)
RT Larry Johnson III (6’7” 348 lbs, kind of rotated back and forth between LT and RT at Tennessee, but his optimal position is RT. The Vols brought in five star RT David Sanders Jr. and he saw the writing on the wall. He may struggle with the speed rush a bit, which is why you want him on the right side of the line, but I read he played 41 snaps at Oklahoma last year and didn’t allow a pressure fwiw)

That’s how I would project the starting offensive line to be, but there is decent depth as well. The linemen are certainly massive, which is a far cry from the dwarves we rolled out two years ago.

I think we are good at three spots, and I think center will be ok with McGill. RT is probably the biggest question mark, especially on pass pro, but run blocking will be a positive with LJ III.

Prime said in a post practice team huddle that he feels good about 8 OL being potential starters. The five you listed are the assumed primary starting group with some combination of Harden, Lovelace, Houston (if healthy) and Roye as the primary depth guys. That also doesn't include Chauncey Gooden or Carde Smith who have been looking nice for true freshman.

I’m not sure what Houston’s weight is up to. But if he is fully recovered and physically as well off as he was last year, he could compete for a starting role at RT. He did pretty darn well for being a significantly underweight guy playing P4 ball. To me, that means he’s got the technical and the footwork in a good spot. If he got up to weight, I think he could be really good.

We'll see on Houston. Being the second best OL on arguably the worst OL in the country isn't necessarily high praise. At the very least, he's a great depth guy this year with the chance to continue gaining weight to get back into the starting lineup next year.

I think the body of work for Crisler is certainly a step above JAG. You don't become honorable mention in the BIG by being a JAG. I can agree on the rest, though.

Bruh, we won 9 games with a line that was basically:

LT: A VERY good player, but a true Freshman
LG: Jusin Meyers (TBH, he was decent)
C: An instate player who had no business being here and a 5-11 275 walk-on
RG: The #20 JUCO Offensive Tackle transfer and a dude who came in, got his check and proceeded to shut it down.
RT: A part time playing cast-off from fvcking Florida International

You can be cautiously optimistic, but let's also try to be real.

Houston won't supplant anyone getting significant reps at the moment. At best, he could work his way into RT2. Trust me on this one.

Crisler was honorable mention all Big Ten twice, and would be starting for a team that is ranked top 15 this pre season.

Who? The Northwestern guy? He’s never played Center before
My bad, for some reason I thought he was competing for center position here. looks like he is versatile enough to play multiple positions, and he did play center for NW in one game

Relax hokie. Sheesh
I'm relaxed.

Look man, there's all kinds of shade you can throw at me that would be completely valid. But this one was so bizarre and out of character, I can't help but question where it came from.

No shade intended. You are making something out of absolutely nothing.

I’m sorry it was a joke about you being pedantic
