Official Construction Update Thread

Formwork is just about done on the west loge box. They are starting to place the formwork on the scaffolding on the club box, and not much progress today on the east loge box

You know what they need to do for those loge boxes? They need some kind of roof or fabric covering to keep out the sun. Something that can be retracted if the people want to hang out in the sun, though. Like a sunsetter awning or something similar.

Here you go. Just say the word and I'll throw in some aluminum siding.

If you want to watch them pour concrete, you should check out the live feed soon. Pouring for the west side loge box has begun.

I just read a suggestion that I watch video of concrete being poured and it excited me. I've got issues.

It is still hard to believe they are actually building it, so each significant step towards completion is met with a sense of surprise.

No. It's mostly that I'm lame.

Nikita: "What are you doing? The garbage doesn't take itself out, you know."

Buffnik: "Watching a live video of concrete being poured at Folsom! This is awesome!"

Nikita: "Hmmm. Well, when you're done you should ask your Internet buddies to help you find a fresh porn site. You're gonna need it."

Based on your marriage and sex wisdom from last week I thought her response would be "I have been studying up on these new Tantric Sex positions and breathing techniques, so when you can take a break for 3 hours or so, I would like to try them out, please."

The first new section at folsom is now in.

They are continuing the formwork construction on the club box.

Some huge wall is going in on the NE corner. Activity on the site of the new football facility is really picking up today.

I don't think the northeast seating is going to be done from the looks of that. But could be wrong. Any bets?

It will get done. Judging by how fast the other seats went from nothing to done, they will be fine
Well, they do have 7 weeks. I was thinking more like 4. I forgot to figure in the two "away" games to start the season.

Yep the schedule has always been to have the seats in by game time on 9/13. I haven't heard anything to suggest they are behind schedule so I think they will be alright.

what's the white stuff in the NW Endzone seats ? styrofoam ?

That is what it looks like. Guys have been moving it in pairs or individually so it has to be light. Not sure what it is for though. It could be rigid foam insulation paneling for the facility but IDK what it would be here already.

I designed an overlay on an existing theater seating area. They wanted to reduce the amount of seats and create some teaching/office space. The existing floor was a sloped cast-in-place concrete deck. To keep the weight down, I had 'em use Styrofoam panels cut to the slope and poured the slab right on top of it. You can get that **** with 10,000 psi compressive strength and even higher. They've used it under airport runways. So, I can't see the pic, but they use it for forming a lot of times.

I've used it in multifamily construction. We recently built a pool deck on top of a podium garage and used foam to cut down on the weight and expense of concrete.
