Official Game Thread - Colorado vs TCU: Sko Buffs!!!

I don't think anyone's talking about how this was the first game for a team of guys that has not played together in a game situation at all. 95% of these guys were brand new and this team looked cohesive from that jump. And that will only improve.

Yep. Frankly, if the Buffs had caught some balls they normally do and Arden hadn't drawn that flag on 3rd & 12 our Buffs would have won fairly comfortably today. This team has real potential to be good. Edit: Also had those 1st game special teams breakdowns with the blocked kick & KO return which led to 14 points.
One live national reaction show I listened to was talking about how good CU looked but of course had to qualify it by discussing all the mistakes TCU made (2 red zone INTs, penalties, etc). No mention of CU’s blocked FG, fumble, long kick return, dropped INTs, etc

When all you see is one team making plays and mistakes, their execution or breakdowns, you are looking at the game with bias.

I fully embrace that I'm a CU homer and watch us play with bias. It's very different than how I watch and evaluate when I'm just enjoying football without a rooting interest. When I watch/ listen/ read a "professional" and their reactions/ analysis are mirroring those rooting interest fan takes, it's pretty obvious that they are heavily biased. I hate that. Much different if you were talking about a show from the DFW area.

My biggest bet of the day was Over 59.5. After put my money down, the lines moved at several books. I also had substantial funds on Colorado Over 0.5 points in the 1Q and 20.5 points in the game. Model suggested that the worst lines were the totals.

It was right. So… shut the fvck up. You still owe me money.

Model hit some crumbs and missed on the cake, nice.

What is the matter with Gus Johnson
Worst game I’ve ever heard Gus Johnson call. He repeatedly called the wrong player after plays, called the wrong yard line, called a touchback on our punt to the 1, called the incomplete missed TCU FG, criticized our RB for going out of bounds at the end of the game and was oblivious to the fact that he gained a first down and, therefore, ended the game…

Probably too emotional for most and I'm sorry in advance. But wow today was a whirlwind. From waking up and seeing Prime this, CU that, Prime that, CU this, on Gameday and Big Noon back and forth, it felt surreal.

It felt surreal watching interviews of coach Prime and nearly being brought to tears from how he spoke about this university.

It felt surreal watching this team stuff TCU on the first drive for a 3 and out and then immediately marching down the field for a score.

It felt surreal watching our Buffs going back and forth with TCU and not feeling the sense of doom that I have felt in years past watching us go down by 1, 2, 3, scores knowing we had no chance to come back.

It felt surreal watching this team get the ball back with less than 7 minutes left and thinking "I'm confident that this team can go down the field and score"

It felt surreal as Dylan Edwards crossed that goal line and tears started rolling because we went from the laughing stock of college football for the last 19 years, to a team that can compete with 99% of power 5 teams.

It felt surreal knowing that a lot of us have stuck with this team for all these years when we had every reason not to and we finally have coach that cares, a coach that is talented enough, and team that wants it enough.

I love all of you members (except for the fusker tools, see you pu**ies next week) and all of you lurkers.

Fight CU
My surreal observation is how well coached we looked. Other than the special teams, it is obvious that these guys know what they are doing

Agreed. I've always liked him but he was bad today

Guy played 120 snaps on a hot Texas day running all over the field and he still has the energy to do that after the game?

What kind of shape is he in and what kind of ridiculous dedication does he have to get and stay in that shape?

The natural athletic gifts are obvious but you don't do what he did today without an immense amount of hard work

Fact is, we went into the opponent’s home, as a 20.5 point underdog, with a team not really fully assembled until a few short months ago and with a coaching staff of which several hadn’t coached a team together, and beat the No. 17 team in the nation who played in the National Championship game 8 moths ago.

Gus has always been a pro.

I know that for some announcers preparing for the game involves watching a lot of game film so they can get to know who is where and when, get used to putting names to numbers and following tendencies.

Not saying this was the problem for Gus, just don't know but just like the rest of us he had very little to work with coming into the game. This team is a whole new collection of players running an offense (and defense) that is new to the players and the fans

Announcers can normally anticipate a call much of the time. Today he had no better idea of what to expect than we did.

Well, when you put it like that.

I just don’t like the “TCU lost this game” narrative, rather than “CU won this game”, which is what that show kind of felt like

The last nine months really have been, and its really made me look at Rick George in a new light. I thought Prime was going to do great things when an AD finally had the balls to give him an opportunity because of who CP is. He interviewed He needs total control of the football operation from the jump.....and that's why this situation is PERFECT for him. I don't see a lot of SEC (in particular schools) being able to get out of his way like CU can. I thought the baseball comment was telling-this is a guy who prides himself on his honesty. He wants to build another Alabama HERE, and he took a brand new team to TCU and beat them 9 months after they played for a national title. This team is definitely better than I thought they were, and I had 6-6.

RG has taken a ton of **** here, but he had the guts to make this move when a number of other schools (TCU included) did not. The sky's the limit here now, and its because RG believed in Prime.

I'm not saying that the overreaction chamber is running on full power, but the dude on the radio a bit ago was asking, in all seriousness, if Shedeur and Hunter would both be in NYC for the Heisman ceremony.
