Official Score Prediction Thread vs Air Force

31 CU to 19.99 AFA

It is the only game this year we hold an opponent under 20 points.
To add to this:
  • After we beat AFA, we go 3-5 in the next 8 conference games, making us bowl eligible and 6-5 heading in to Utah
  • Utah comes in 11-0 after squeaking out some tight wins @ USC and @ Wash. They are #4 in the BCS poll, with Alabama nipping at their heals in the 5th spot with one loss. Much talk about if Alabama beats UGa in the SEC Championship game, they could pass Utah even if they are undefeated.
CU comes out and lights up Rice-Eccles Stadium, beating Utah 41-23, shocking the world. Shenault finally has his breakout game with 9-163 and 2 TD's receiving, along with 3-17 and another TD rushing. He returns a kickoff for a TD that seals the game in the 4th.

Utah goes on to a dominating win in a BCS New Year's 6 Bowl game.

CU, finishing the regular season 7-5, goes on to beat Virginia in the Sun Bowl and an 8-5 record. Coach Tucker then closes on a Top 25 recruiting class.

As tough as Utah is, those two games may beat the snot out of them and we may be in a good position to take them. I can't believe USC won't punish the upstart, and WA is always physical.

Doubt it-They have two of the three worst teams in the league in UCLA and @Arizona after Washington, and @USC is next after this week for them. They're gonna be tough.

I get the satire but it would be a very bad thing if Viska doesn’t have a breakout game till Utah..

The most important stat for CU for this game is going to be offensive efficiency: how many points per possession does the offense get?

The one thing with option teams is that they do tend to dominate in TOP. TOP is a worthless metric for predicting wins and losses, but it can help bring some insights into strategy. And in this case, it tells us that our offense probably won't spend much time on the field - so when it's out there, we need to get points.

Side note: the above also means that we're likely to have our lowest point production of the year. This is pretty normal - I'm pretty sure Army held OU to its lowest score of the year last year. That's just the way it goes: you can't score much when you don't have the ball much.

I think we need to average over 4 and preferably 5 points per possession, if we're at 3 or under, we may be in trouble.

Also, for you degenerates: seriously think about taking the under for the game.

35-31 - Before the season I thought we would handle this one easily. While we've seen stellar performances on both sides of the ball, they haven't been consistent. Less confident now. I think the zoomies will give us fits, but our Buffs will prevail.
