Big changes in the land of the Corn.

After years of frustration they finally fired the savior Frosty and did it produce results. Instead of losing by one score they lost by 5 touchdowns.

Time for more changes. Their offense managed to produce one score the entire day before getting a late TD against Oklahoma’s trainers and waterboys. Solution, fire the defensive coordinator.

This week will be much better for them as they are guaranteed not to lose. Won’t win either since it’s a bye but for them that’s improvement.

For the rest of college football this is the week that conference schedules start to kick in full scale. Fewer opportunities for Sun Belt teams to beat the P5 teams paying them to come in.

Thursday night starts the week with a game that is usually a battle regardless of the teams records coming in. West Virginia (1-2) has already lost to Kansas and Pittsburgh and doesn’t want to lose at Virginia Tech (2-1) The other Thursday games are less than notable.

Friday has surprising Syracuse (3-0) hosting Virginia (2-1) who has struggled against weaker opponents this season.

Of local interest Air Force (2-1) tries to bounce back from their first loss of the season hosting Nevada (2-2.)

Saturday starts with a battle of top 25 teams. Wake Forest (21) yes Wake is ranked instead of rank brings in Clemson (5) with a chance to show they are actually not an illusion.

The other two games matching top 25 teams are in the SEC who after beating up on a bunch of JV teams get ranked because, well, SEC.

Florida (20) travels to Tennessee (11) and Arkansas (10) is at Texas A&M (23) still ranked despite losing to Appy State and not impressing against Miami. Again SEC.

Top teams look to be playing some decent opponents Georgia (1) gets a scrimmage against Kent State (1-2) but Alabama (2) gets Vanderbilt (3-0) and Ohio State (3) hosts Wisconsin (2-1.)

Baylor (17) will set aside violating co-eds long enough to fly to Iowa State (3-0) who hope a win would jump them into the rankings.

Maryland (3-0) is undefeated but likely won’t be after this week playing at Michigan (4). At least they still are head to head with Oregon for the ugliest uniforms.

Is UConn the college football version of the Washington Generals? After giving FBS Utah State a battle in the opening week and beating another FCS school they got the privilege of getting beat up by Syracuse, demolished by Michigan, and this week they go to North Carolina State (12.) If they survive this week the schedule eases off with Fresno State.

Already mentioned Baylor but with other teams we like to see lose Notre Dame (1-2) who barely escaped might Cal is at North Carolina (3-0). Mel and the Molesters of Michigan State (2-1) host Minnesota (3-0) who didn’t have to play anyone last week.

Worst game of the week, maybe the entire year has Hawaii (1-3) attempting to pick up a win at New Mexico State (0-4.)

PAC 12 race gets started in earnest this week. Washington State (3-0) host Oregon (15) while also unbeaten Oregon State (3-0) sees USC (7) pay a visit.

The Herm experiment at Arizona State (1-2) is over but the pain is likely to continue as they host Utah (13.)

Locally as mentioned earlier AFA plays Friday night. Wyoming (3-1) is at BYU (19).

Lots of good seats available for the battle of CSU (0-3) and FBS Sacramento State (2-0.) Will anyone actually show up. CSU has been terrible and losing to an FBS team would be a brutal statement of where they are at. And they might be able to draw more fans to their shiny new stadium showing Lady Gaga videos than this game will draw.

Like a skid mark on Eddie Mac’s pants Northern Colorado (1-2) slipped by a terrible Lamar team last week. They may actually win (not lose) two in a row as Idaho State (0-3) has been almost as bad as the Bears have been and are coming in to Greeley where UNC has the home smell advantage.

Local small colleges got a start on conference play last weekend and already have some key games.

Best game of the week might be Pueblo at Mines. Pueblo looks to be down this season and Mines had high expectations before losing two games in out of conference play.

This past weekend Pueblo lost at home to Western and Mines barely slipped by Adams State 84-10.

Western hopes to challenge Mines for the conference title hosting Chadron this weekend Mesa needs a win to stay in contention and travels to Black Hills State.

Adams may be contending with Fort Lewis for worst team in the league this year as they both along with Chadron are winless on the season. In another week they play each other so at least one of them has to blemish their record with a win.

@hokiehead should be feeling pretty good.

VT hasn't dominated yet but looks like the much better team.

This WVU team doesn't look like they have the talent they usually do.

VT has just missed on some big plays.

Can now see Hokies frustration.

VT looks like the more talented team but they are getting dominated by a team that has struggled so far this season.

Still only a 6 point game so WVU still has time to give it back but this has to leave fans wondering.

Hank Bachmeier might be worse than our 2 schlubs. Man, Boise State has fallen.

Air Force has played 3 QBs and is up 27 on Nevada.

I'm sure Stoneface thinks he's going to have the same luck with that tomorrow.

UTEP has been thumped by North Texas and New Mexico this year, but they took it to Boise tonight 27-10.

If Clemson is the #5 team in the nation, we're 3-0. They would lose by 40 to Georgia, Bama or OSU. That's a #15 team at best.

CSU shocks me. I thought Norvell was such a great hire
They have entire sections of the stadium with zero fans in them.

Might have had better attendance at some of the high school games in Ft. Collins last night.

Northern Colorado going to get their second win of the season.

Meanwhile CSU looking like complete trash. Only positive for them is that there are almost no fans there to see it.
