It may not seem like it with all the coach talk but yes we have games this week and for those who need a distraction we have a bunch of what could be great games.

For many teams this weekend is the end of a disappointing season. For others it is about where they will be going for a bowl game or maybe even a spot in the playoffs.

Tuesday night the MAC games. Miami (Ohio) needs a win tonight to be bowl eligible.

In the Western Illinois – Northern Illinois game both are already bowl eligible but a win would put them in better position.

Thursday Ole Miss (5-6) tries to get that sixth win against (18) Mississippi State.

Friday night gives us two huge games.
The first one is (6) Oklahoma at (13) West Virginia. Sooners hoping for a convincing win and some breaks to put them in the playoffs.

Also on Friday we get (8) Washington State hosting (16) Washington in the Apple bowl. It would take a lot for Wazzou to get into the playoffs but a BCS bowl game would be huge for them and this win would put them in position.

Saturday starts with (4) Michigan at (10) Ohio State. The Buckeyes have been less impressive recently than their record. Their fans would love to take the Wolverines out of the playoffs.

Later we have (22) Texas A&M hosting (7) LSU. The late night match-up is (21) Utah State on the Smurf Turf against (23) Boise State.

Some other big traditional battles give us (3) Notre Dame putting their undefeated record on the line at disappointing USC (5-6) who would love to finish their season with the giant upset.

In other tradition laden battles that have turned upsets in the past we get BYU (6-5) at (17) Utah, Georgia Tech (7-4) at (5) Georgia and the Iron Bowl with Auburn (7-4) and (1) Alabama plus a number of others.

For humor we get to watch the red clown parade (the only ones who would consider a trip to Iowa City to watch their team get hammered into submission for a final time this year a highlight. Somehow they will explain it as another step towards their return to glory.

Locally in a game which is meaningless except to the mostly Air Force fans CSU (3-8) buses down I-25 to Colorado Springs to play the AFA Falcons (4-7.) On Saturday (5-6) Wyoming goes to (3-8) New Mexico looking for a win and bowl eligibility which would be a great finish after starting 2-6.

In the Division 2 playoffs CSU Pueblo which won at Mines last weekend travels to regional (1) Minnesota Mankato.

Everybody is going to be watching Michigan/OSU.

Or should be. I'll be watching our Golden Buffaloes, but that doesn't start until the evening.

Ole Miss about to finish 5-7 (1-7) by getting taken behind the woodshed by Miss State. They should have hired MacIntyre.
Giving the commissioning speech at Ole Miss in 2 weeks. I was rooting for them so that it would be more of a “bowl eligible party graduation atmosphere”.

Just saw the score that CSU lost to AFA today. I'm pretty sure they lost to Wyoming this year, too. How bad is Bobo's record in the 3 rivalry games (CU/WYO/AFA)? Has he ever won one of these games?

i love how ESPN tries over and over to convince me both Mississippi schools are ten ton football blue bloods. yeah, right.

i think WVU is due against OU. Sooners only team they haven't beaten since joining the Big XII and have blown some chances to elevate the program in big games against OU in the past.

It's almost like there's some favoritism toward UT in the Big 12 or something.
