Texas Tech got to the National Championship despite having zero basketball legacy beyond the final days of Bob Knight and Tubby Smith. This is because (1) Chris Beard is brilliant, (2) they found some stars via smart recruiting and development, (3) everything culminated for one run and (4) they got lucky....
