RIP Coach Mac

I Appreciate It Thank You GIF by NETFLIX

He was one of the top 5 recruiters in college football history. This place had horrible facilities and was arguably the worst program in the country when he arrived. Howard Cosell was slamming us on Monday night football, it seemed hopeless. He brought in the best players around and won a title. RIP sir.

Although this news was not unexpected, I’m very sorry to read it this morning. I’m really glad we got to get together as teammates last spring to honor Coach Mac.

There are numerous memories, but I think when he came for our in-home visit and totally sold my mom on me going thousands of miles away to college, was one of the most impressive things.

He was a man of integrity and principle. I didn’t always agree with him, but I always knew where I stood with him. He is one of the greatest influences in my life..

RIP Mac

I had season tickets before and during Fairbanks and for all of Mac's years. You had to love what he did for CU. One of the greatest Buffs ever.

'The Gospel According to Mac', is viewable on Hulu (it's a 30 - 30 production) and 'Born to Lead, the Sal Aunese Story' - in which Mac plays a big role, is on Youtube

Bless his heart.

Wow! I’m at a loss. I became a CU fan when I moved to Colorado in 1976. I remember Mac’s early struggles and the one win season. I can only imagine how he’d have been raked over the coals if there had been internet and social media. He was getting a lot of criticism even without social media.

But, man, that man could recruit! People who paid attention could see it. Something was happening in Boulder. And boy was it! RIP Mac! Give Lyndi our love! You are finally home!
