Tonight at 7:45pm, the 9th place Buffs (4-10, 14-12) will host 5th place #5 UCLA (10-4, 18-5) and it will be live streamed from the pac 12 website.
Then on Saturday at 7 pm, they will host 3rd place #6 USC (10-4, 22-4). This match will also be live streamed from the pac 12 website.
It would be huge if they could steal a win from either team.

BOULDER- The final two home volleyball matches of the season are this weekend as the University of Colorado Buffaloes will host perennial Pac-12 powerhouses No. 6 UCLA and No. 8 USC on Nov. 9 and 10, respectively, at the Coors Events Center. Both matches will be streamed live on the Pac-12 Digital Network on CUBuffs.com.

The Buffs will host the UCLA Bruins on Friday at 7:45 p.m. in the second part of the double-header with CU's men's basketball team which opens its season against Wofford College at 5 p.m. Admission to the match is free with a men's basketball ticket, otherwise tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for volleyball fans to watch the basketball game for free as well. Friday night is also alumni night for the Buff and the live stream will have former CU coach Pi'i Aiu handling the play-by-play duties with Todd "Moose" Benson providing the commentary.

Saturday's match against the USC Trojans will start at 7 p.m. and CU will honor its lone senior, Michelle Miller. Miller, a 2012 captain, has played three seasons with the Buffs after transferring from Sam Houston State. November is also Fan Appreciation Month, so tickets to the match will be just $1.

The Buffs are 14-12 overall this season and are ninth in the Pac-12 with a 4-10 record. Freshman outside hitter Alexis Austin is pacing CU with 3.06 kills per set this season. Sophomore Neira Ortiz Ruiz is second on the team with 2.11 kills per set and sophomore Kelsey English is attacking at a team-best .314. Freshman setter Nicole Edelman has directed the Buffs to a .197 hitting percentage and has passed out 9.09 assists per set this year, which is eighth in the conference.

Freshman Chelsey Keoho is leading CU with 2.74 digs per set and junior Elysse Richardson adds 2.30 digs per set. CU is recording 2.28 blocks per set, which is eighth in the conference. Junior Nikki Lindow leads CU with 1.31 blocks per set, which seventh in the conference. English is second on the team with 0.82 blocks per set.

UCLA has recorded an 18-5 record this season and is tied for third in the Pac-12 standings with a 10-4 record. The Bruins are currently sixth in the AVCA Coaches Poll. Last weekend they fell in three sets to Arizona on Nov. 2 before coming back to defeat Arizona State 3-1 on Nov. 3.

The Bruins are attacking at the best clip in the Pac-12 (.294) and have two hitters in the league's top-six. Karsta Lowe is fifth in the conference (.364) and Zoe Nightingale ranks sixth (.361). UCLA averages 14.77 kills per set, second in the Pac-12. Tabi Love has recorded the third best individual total at 4.59 kills per set and Rachael Kidder is ninth with 3.95 kills per set. Megan Moenoa has handed out 10.52 assists per set this year, which ranks fourth in the conference and Becca Strehlow adds 9.95 assists per set which is sixth in the league.

Bojana Todorovic is the Bruin's defensive leader with 4.05 digs per set to rank eighth in the Pac-12. The team is averaging 14.20 digs per set. The Bruins are also posting 2.78 blocks per set behind Nightingale's 1.35 blocks per set. Mariana Aquino is second on the team with 0.97 blocks per set.

The Trojans are 22-4 this season and are also tied for third in the Pac-12 with a 10-4 record. They are currently ranked eighth in the nation, according to the AVCA Coaches Poll. USC dropped from sixth last week after falling in three sets at Arizona State on Nov. 2. The Trojans rebounded two days later against Arizona, winning in four sets.

USC is lead by Samantha Bricio, who ranks seventh in the conference with 4.16 kills per set. The team is averaging the third best mark in the Pac-12 at 14.60 kills per set. The Trojans are hitting .260 (fifth in the league) and Alexis Olgard leads USC at .380 (third in the Pac-12). Hayley Crone is directing the offense with 10.87 assists per set, which is third in the conference.

Defensively the Trojans are led by Natalie Hagglund who ranks second in the conference with 4.90 digs per set. Sara Shaw is second on the team with 2.56 digs per set. At the net, USC is averaging 2.16 blocks per set. Olgard has recorded 0.89 blocks per set to lead the Trojans.

UCLA leads the all-time series against the Buffs 6-0 and USC has a 3-0 edge against the Buffs. After this weekend, CU will have four contests on the road to finish the regular season.

Buffs are looking better in the second set and I think they lead 8-7
 
Bruins win the second set 25-22. Buffs fought hard but made several mistakes at the end of the set. Also, UCLA is hitting .528 which isn't helping.
 
In between sets, the announcers are talking about the Buffs chances of making the NCAA tournament. Since they have to be above .500 they have to go 2-2 with their remaining games meaning they have to get 2 wins out of games against UCLA, USC, Stanford and Utah. It looks like they will lose tonight and should win against Utah. Then they would have to upset either #7 USC or #1 Stanford so it doesn't look good.

UCLA wins third set 25-12 to complete the sweep. When the team you're playing has a hitting percentage that is more than twice yours, you don't stand a chance.

My understanding is that the criteria has been changed for this season. A team has to finish AT OR ABOVE .500, so finishing at .500 would make a team eligible to be considered. But then the final selection seems to be based almost entirely on RPI amd the Buffs aren't good enough there even if they did make the .500 criteria. Last I saw theeir rpi was down in the 70's and usually the teams selected for at-large bids have rpi's around 40 or better.

Yeah, I don't think they have a chance with their rpi
