Former Northwestern football coach Pat Fitzgerald is suing the school for $130 million, saying his alma mater wrongfully fired him in the wake of a hazing and abuse scandal that has engulfed the athletic department.

Interesting assumption that the school does not also have good attorneys and smart people.
We're not talking about a cash strapped public college here...
Universities and their attorneys are typically risk averse. NU didn’t fire Fitzgerald until the press got wind of what had happened, not before even though they knew what was going on.
Fitzgerald will almost certainly walk with a bundle as the end result will almost certainly be a settlement. NU won’t risk losing a $180mm judgment.
