As written in a Kyle Ringo Daily Camera article (http://www.dailycamera.com/cu-colle...-cross-country-buffs-will-be-well-represented), 5 Buffs (3 Current, 1 alum and 1 future) are involved in the Cross Country Running World Championships being held in Guiyang China tonight (mountain time, Saturday afternoon in China). Best to luck to all!
The 1st race, junior women, starts at 10:00 PM tonight Mountain Time. (More detail of schedule, etc., near the bottom of this post.)
I don't think a lot is expected from the U.S. overall in these races, although the senior U.S. men did earn an impressive and I believe surprising 2nd place team finish (behind only Ethiopia) in the last world championships in 2013.
Quoting the start of the Daily Camera article-
"
Three University of Colorado athletes, one former Buff and one future Buff will compete Saturday in the IAAF cross country world championships in Guiyang, China.
CU freshmen Kaitlyn Benner, Valerie Constien and Paul Miller will compete in the junior race. Miller will be joined in the men's junior race by CU recruit John Dressel, from Spokane, Wash. Former Buff standout Laura Thweatt will compete in the senior women's race.
Thweatt and Benner won national championships in Boulder in February at the U.S cross country championships. Constien finished second to Benner and Dressel finish third in the men's junior race with Miller coming in fifth. Their performances in Boulder earned each a spot on the U.S. teams in China this week.

In addition to the many Buffs involved, there are also a few other State of Colorado connected runners I know about representing the U.S.A.. I believe high school junior Katie Rainsberger from Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs and high school sophomore Lauren Gregory from Fort Collins High are in the junior women's race along with the two Buffs. In the men's junior race, Cerake Geberkidane, a Denver East grad (now a freshman at Oklahoma State), joins future Buff John Dressel on the team. Good luck to them also!
