Yes, they need a big win this week to keep some intrigue going into BYU. If they're somehow able to beat BYU, that TCU game the following week is going to be big TV, IMO.We need to get back to being interesting ON game day not just having a famous, interesting coach and backstory, or that’s going to cease.
The plays installed in the spring resemble the schemed plays run by many of the currently undefeated teams in major college football. The plays aren’t awful, the OC is awful. My concern is that the plays installed in the spring are mostly awful, don't fit into or enhance a workable, integrated scheme against teams that have scouted us--at all, and lack any creativity, effective motion, or misdirection.
Also, when was the last time we ran a successful trick play? When was the last time we hit a simple, easy third down conversion that looked like we knew what the D was going to do and beat that?
It would be interesting to see the data (i.e. how many yards are the LB's giving up to the RB/TE's on first and second down passes across the middle that present many 3rd down and 1 or 2 yards. Also, how far the CB's are playing off their WR so the passes out to the flat on 1st or 2nd down net 8 yards per attempt, etc...).This is actually pretty wild, considering we have been talking about how the run defense is awful. Truth is, it's actually been pretty good, they just haven't been able to get off the field in short yardage situations.
I don't have the stats/splits to back this up, but this tells me teams just haven't been in 2nd or 3rd and long situations very often against CU. They make sure it's positive play after positive play, even if it's only 3 yards at a time to set up 3rd or 4th and short.
If I'm Livingston, I'm loading up to stop the run on every 1st down play

A friend of mine is a handicapper and physical therapist. Half of the formula for how he grades defenses is evaluating what % of defensive time on the field is based on defensive errors; which % of defensive time on the field is due to insufficient recovery; which % is due to personnal deficiencies; what % of defensive time on the field is due to injury. Then he compares that to points per play allowed. This is actually pretty wild, considering we have been talking about how the run defense is awful. The biggest weapon in college football is a dual threat QB. It’s so hard to defend. CU needs to load the box with a spy on the QB, especially on 3rd downs. This is actually pretty wild, considering we have been talking about how the run defense is awful. Or, you know, employ a dual threat QB effectively on offense. The biggest weapon in college football is a dual threat QB. It’s so hard to defend. CU needs to load the box with a spy on the QB, especially on 3rd downs.
Boy I hope so. Out of curiosity, how's their back-up look? The Wyoming QB has rushed for negative 39 yards on the season thus far. He's not a running threat at all. CU's defense should get healthy this week.
Why!?!? How!?!?The plays that were repped in August practices weren't bad TBH. The problem is I have only seen 1/4 of them in actual games.

Some coaches are really good in a film room and/or on a practice field but are not good in game coaches. Shurmur is very respected but on game day he is and always has been subpar. It's an easy answer.
The playcaller is shît.
If he had any talent as a playcaller, he wouldn't be our OC, but would probably still be coaching in the NFL.
He can design plays. He can build an offense. He can come up with a decent strategy and game plan.
He is absolute shît executing the strategy and gameplan in actual games.
“Resemble” is doing a ton of heavy lifting here. LOLThe plays installed in the spring resemble the schemed plays run by many of the currently undefeated teams in major college football. The plays aren’t awful, the OC is awful.
Screw Ralphie, this better be an OC announcement.
Don't say that around fusker or sheep fans, they might try it based on their experiences with domesticated animals.Screw Ralphie,

and then you woke upMy five hopes for Wyoming:
1. We win the game decisively in all three phases.
2. The D makes big strides. We play physical and energized. Players just make plays buzzing all around the field. Have 3 & outs, shorten Wyoming's drives and force punts.
3. Break some play-makers loose on O, however we do it. We need gash plays to energize those guys and build connections. We need guys to step-up and win 1on1 battles. This includes the Oline making progress.
4. A solid QB outing by Salter showing growth and some explosiveness. We need him to have confidence going into next week. KS--"play pants on fire."
5. Our coaches are meshing moving towards playing complementary football. We can complain about Prime, the OC, DC or individual coaches, but the key is playing complementary football and making adjustments. Coordination between coaching above in the box and those on field is just as key, as play-calling. Do not have a Q, where we lose the TOP battle 10 min to 5 min, unless we are scoring points so fast my head is on a swivel.
I would ask for sound fundamental football, however CU will still be a work in progress after this game.
