Rammies not looking good in scrimmage

I just read that their coach barred the media from talking to any football players. Ummm I don't believe he has that power. He can bar the players from talking to the media but not viceversa. Another thing that he doesn't understand about the non-SEC.

He is going to learn a hard lesson that local media does not reside in the pocket of the football program like in SEC territory. In fact, here it is the exact opposite.

They are scared. Most of their fans are reasonable in this situation but a few are still clinging onto the fact they may be innocent. If they lose Capi and Orakpo they may not win a game next year.

I just read through RamNation for the first time in a long time. There are a few idots like any message board will have. The ones who will look for any excuse to defend the players and justify keeping them in the program and the ones who want to form an angry mob to exact some frontier justice. But the vast majority are saying that Fairchild brought in too many thugs and the new regime needs to send a message that they're cleaning things up. They went light on the St. Patrick's Day incident and it looks like it reinforced the message that football players could do whatever they want.
 
From a football standpoint, they should panicked. Those are their two best players, and really the only difference makers on the team.

Me too, and it took forever. Completely unnavigable, a la Netbuffs.

Anyway, the Rams are in a worse place right now than CU has ever been in, whether we're talking 1981 or 2006. I'm not taking any pleasure in how bad they are, but I will take my free W every season.
 
I think McElwhine is going to boot the players. Here is his current statement

“At this point, the three players reported to be involved in the incident over the weekend are indefinitely suspended from the football program. That means they are effectively no longer part of this team and will not take part in any football-related activity. We do not condone in any way, shape or form this type of behavior. It is completely unacceptable.“I understand people want me to remove them from the team immediately. But until the investigation concludes and due process takes its course, suspending them indefinitely is the strongest action I can take.“The vast majority of players in this program are good kids. They work hard and they do the right thing. They understand that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”​

Geez, I had a hard enough time finding a win on their schedule BEFORE those three got suspended.

By the way, whatever happened to the LSU players that stomped the Marine?

I always took that verse to mean "They persecute you because you believe in god." not because you believe in beating someone to a pulp.

When someone gets into trouble, the standard playbook is to start talking about God. Throwing out tweets of bible verse that's completely unrelated to the situation is a nice new touch.

My rule of thumb is that when I hear someone go religious in reaction to a scandal it means they're royally screwed and the only avenue left is to appeal to the God fearing for forgiveness/understanding/compassion. It must work or we wouldn't see it over and over. It wouldn't be the "go to card" for any crisis manager speechwriter if it didn't work.

I don't blame people if they read/hear that stuff and it makes them take a step back and try to be a bit more compassionate. I think that says that a lot of folks are good people. But it makes me despise even more all the assholes who screw up and then insincerely play on that.

Apparently 7 guys got out of the car. No telling who did the actual beating. In other news, a CSU fan's question on rn in response to a CU fan's comment on the beating:

"What happened to that guy who lit a fire in the bar?"

Since he didn't get a few friends to help him beat the crap out of a skinny freshman that night, the charge was dismissed.

They were trying to exaggerate what exactly happened. "Started a fire in a crowded bar..."

He started a fire in a trash can that apparently was put out rather quickly/easily and told to leave. Stupid, but also something I could see one of my friends doing.
