Another nail in the coffin of PSU trying to limit damages in civil suits. More evidence of activity that puts the civil cases squarely in the federal courts and outside of the state limits on damages.
In a related note I heard Anthony Adams speaking for a group of players who have announced that they plan to appeal the penalties on the radio. He kept making a vaugue statement about "just wanting a full investigation to find out the truth." This can't do anything but more damage to PSU. The Freeh report which was suggested, contracted for, and paid for by PSU would only be the starting point. It would be very difficult to argue with any of the findings in it since it was conducted with the full cooperation of the university, it would also be hard to attack the credibility of a report conducted at the behest of PSU by an ex-FBI director. It gets even more ridiculous to think that the findings of an additional investigation would be in PSU's favor or any individuals behavior since a number of points in the Freeh report were verified in a criminal court of law in the Sandusky trial and to my knowledge that same trial resulted in no conflicting points to the Freeh report.
It is safe to assume that the trials of Curley and Schultz (if they go to trial) and hopefully Spanier will further support the Freeh report findings. Essentially these players, along with some board members, and an untold number of PSU fans are still in full scale denial in the face of completely overwhelming evidence.
One of the few time I haven't wanted to be right.

Doesn't matter if kids are getting raped, we have to make sure that Penn State football doesn't get bad publicity. Lots of important people are supporters of Second Mile, we wouldn't want them to look bad.
I generally hate plaintiffs attorneys but the one hope I have in this situation is that one or more of them is motivated enough by disgust with what happened and with the money that is on the table as a result and that they keep digging into this whole thing and that eventually we get a better idea of who knew what when and who not only didn't do anything but who prevented things from happening.
If this story turns out to have legs we may see some huge blocks fall before this is done. The story is now to big to contain to Happy Valley and control among their little group of friends of PSU.

Nik, my dad, and other alums don't need to worry. IT WON'T HAPPEN.
It won't happen but just the discussion of it brings a shiver to the academic side of the house. The deniers are still fighting things with all their energy but in time pressure will come to bear to make some changes.

Sadly, and I think I mentioned this before, these sort of incidents often are not the act of an isolated pervert. I have believed all along Sandusky was protected by people who had the same proclivities, and who had money, political power, or perhaps political office. Many years ago I read "The Franklin Cover-Up" by former Nebraska legislator John DeCamp. It has been a long time since I read it but he made some oblique reference to Pennsylvania, and, apparently, a connection to what amounted to a child prostitution ring there in NE. I don't remember the exact reference, and I haven't gone back to look at the book. But here is a link to some more recent stuff, ask yourself why this young man's testimony isn't center stage.

Your faith in the humanity of the penn st. faithful is adorable. If anything, this will just further entrench them in their persecution complex and they'll get even further into the "WE'RE the victims here! The "so-called victims" are just trying to ruin us!"
That's kind of what I said after reading the bb posts from the link that dio posted. I don't think it was unreasonable for me to assume that the more socially responsible members of the PSU community might take the accreditation threat as a "heads-up." Those posters evidently did not.
Of course ... as I'm sure all buffs members can attest ... the opinions posted on a fan bb are not necessarily totally representative of the university community as a whole. :rolling_eyes:

The bolded part is where your arguments seem to fall apart. Based on what we've all been able to see, hear and read, the socially responsible members constitute a VERY underwhelming minority of the penn st community.
FWIW, I'm not trying to slam you personally. If anything, I really do wish you were right. I really do.
Or if not as you state an underwhelming minority at least a very silent part of the community letting themselves be shouted down by the delusional group that wants to believe that PSU is the victim and should be at worst slapped on the hand and let go.
No one pays any attention to your college degree once you've been in the workforce for a while. I'm not sure I even put my college degree on my last CV.
Guess it just matters what field you're in and what kind of positions you're applying for. Almost all the ones I've applied for in the past 10 years or so want to see my transcripts from both my undergrad career and law school.
Field would definitely matter. I'm in business. People care whether I make money for companies, not whether I took a women's studies course seriously when I was 19.
how old are you lbuff? because I'm not sure I am even going to list my school on the resume anymore and they definitely don't care about my transcripts. All they care is if you can do the job, not if you got an A in micro more than a decade ago.
