The Official Alabama/Auburn Game Thread

The Miracle in Michigan will always have a special place in my heart, but that is right up there as the greatest finish I've ever seen. Just crazy. And how about the 99 yard TD pass before that?

I had that 99 yard pass as the play of the year in college football. I think we have a new leader in the clubhouse...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I bid you all farewell. I have enjoyed my time here but it now time for me to leave. For the record Bama was out played and out coached today and probably would have lost in OT if not for the worst coaching decision I have seen in football at any level. It was a great run.

A playoff would have eliminated the all or nothing value of this game. It was a playoff

Yeah, it would have made the impact of this game less valuable, but it would mean Auburn gets home field advantage and play lower seeded teams. I don't think many would argue Aurburn is the better team out there. They got lucky, and this is why we get crappy match ups in the bowls (see Notre Dame last year)

What are the chances that Auburn jumps Tosu to get into the MNC game if both win their conference championships? Tosu was not impressive.

That's always the trade off. No system is perfect. Remember the year in the NFL when the Giants barely slipped into the playoffs and ended up getting hot. Went on to beat an 18-0 NE team.

Part of what makes sports great is the arguements about who got in, should have got in, or got upset.

I like the college system much better than the second chances given by playoffs.

Today's results make Baylor's loss last week more significant.

Stanford losing to Utah and then USC.

On and on, I love it.

I think that college sports, including football should provide room to grow as the season goes on. the whole team gains experience and gets better as the year goes on (of course barring injuries.) I want to see the best teams playing each other at the end of the year, even if that means they lost on or two, especially early. That means Alabama would still have a chance to with the natty, but it would be a tough road that would be insanely fun to watch.

Bama Charlie, in the words of noted late eighties and early nineties philosopher Axel Rose, don't go away mad, just go away.
