It's clear that this program is going nowhere. 2-16 seasons can't be tolerated, especially on top of a downward spiral for the past few seasons. Not making a move just makes the rebuild that much more difficult. CU has the ability to be a top 25 women's basketball program. We've fallen so far below what's acceptable.

Tad has won 21+ games every season at CU except for last season (assuming we win at least 1 more this season). His down year was a 7-11 Pac record.
Linda has only managed to do better than 6-12 once (13-5 in 2012/13). We've been on a downward spiral ever since.
There's really nothing similar about their results in Boulder.

Lost again today to finish 2-16 in conference play and finished in last place in the league. Incoming recruits for next year are not game changers. They lose their best player this year in Swan. Outlook for next season is bleak. Rick George has to make a change because clearly Linda Lappe is in over her head.
2-16, last place in Pac 12, 7-22 overall. 22 losses ties them for the most losses in program history. When they lose in the Pac 12 tourney, they will have 23 losses and that will be the most losses in program history.
They were never in today's game. Not for a minute.
I share your sentiment that Lappe is in over her head. They looked lost today. I know it was Senior Day for Washington, but the team did not look prepared.
Women's b'ball has been very succesful here before. I don't know if Rick can make this decision based on money only.

Something will need to be done. Even the Pac-12 announcers were prognosticating that Robinson and/or Leonard were likely to leave a program that was in this shape.
So it's not just me that thinks that one of the freshmen might transfer. Ariana Freeman transferred in and probably regrets it. She'd have to sit out another year if she transferred. Not sure on the rules about how many years she would have left to actually play, but sitting out 2 seasons in a row would not help her game.
On a happier note, it was nice to see that the Malcolm-Peck sisters went to West Virginia for Arielle Roberson's Senior Night.

Its sad to see that Ariel's career is at an end, particularly with her numbers this year. Played in lots of games and she can still rebound but not a great finish to a career. Sometimes transferring doesn't really work for anyone.
That being said, it is nice to hear that the some of her old team mates still support her and went to see her senior game. Nice people....course nice people don't always make for good basketball teams....which brings me to Lappe. She has taken a program that KMM was rapidly driving into the ground with a mix of predominately bad recruiting decisions and just awful coaching decisions (can't think of many she got right) and managed to double down on the effort. I think this seasons freshman class showed signs of being really good. Add Burich and Freeman to the group the Buffs have a chance to be improved next year (Though how much I am not sure). If next seasons class is as good as this years a lot of improvement could happen, but I don't know much about the class. That being said, the fact remains Lappe has doubled down on the KMM mistakes. Somehow this group of girls got 2 pac12 wins this year...and if you went to many games and noticed the athletic disparity...well, that is saying something. Despite the fact that I really have enjoyed my conversations with Lappe and would readily admit I like her and still want her to be successful, I think she has to go. Kind of goes back to the comment about the Malcolm-Peck sisters...just because you like them doesn't mean they belong on the floor (whether coaching or playing) of a D1 basketball program.

WVU will likely go to WBB dance from a conference that features Baylor, Texas, and Oklahoma. Her role was obviously not to score a lot of points but her statistics are those of a major contributor. It's sour grapes to imply otherwise, or that she had a disappointing season. Looks like anything but.
Arizona has fired WBB HC Niya Butts. I have a feeling that won't be the only change in Pac-12 leadership this year.

She was a solid contributor for WVU. You can definitely argue from a team perspective that WVU's season isn't a disappointment (Not even close)....but from a personal perspective for AR?...Well...all your stats were accurate, you just left off..4.6 pts a game, 2 turnovers and 1 assist per game and 45% from the free throw line. If you had shared her stat line with her prior to the year she wouldn't be happy about it. Ariel is a competitor and while I am sure she is enjoying being on a good team, this isn't how she wanted to finish and her numbers reflect quite a dip for her (12 ppg, 8.3rpg .458 from the field etc). Hard to really argue this worked like anyone hoped it would for her.
Oh and WVU deserves to go to the dance.
I did include the 4.6 points per game and the 32 assists. And .500 from the field. The rebound total averages to 7.33 per game. Her only significant drop-off was in points per game and that's just because of being cast in a different role. If she was called upon to score points and wasn't getting the job done, she wouldn't have started 29 games and played nearly 3/4 of each game. Look, it sucks that she transferred but to try and make revisionist history out of her season just falls short. In any event I hope the CU WBB ship gets turned in the right direction and that good decisions are made by all concerned.
I feel like you are overreacting here. What CitizenKane was saying here is that this is a disappointing year for Arielle herself. It's definitely the case if we only look at the stat line. She is a solid contributor for WVU this year for sure, but she could be star somewhere else(here or whatever)
I disagree with the idea that "it's a disappointing year for Arielle herself". By the numbers, that's totally unsupportable. The ONLY stat that shows a noticeable decline is ppg. She was a starter, and a huge contributor, on a 22-8 team. Kane is just showing the blinders of delusional Buff homerism, rampant on CU internet sites.
Maybe the CU firing will come before the tourney. One can hope.
As far as Arielle, she's going dancing. If she had stayed at CU, she'd be going nowhere. She came out the winner on this transfer. She had 5 games in a row where she had double figures in rebounds.
Yes, the Malcolm-Pecks were very sweet young women. We will never know what kind of player Brenna could have been due to illness and injury. I was never impressed with Megan.
Just hope the news I'm waiting for comes very soon.

Lot more games in basketball than in football. CU has only won 2. Also basketball is much easier to turn than football is. 1 player can literally take a team to the top. Not the same in football.
I prefer a deeper conference vs a top heavy conference, but top heavy definitely gets more national attention.
Quoting myself, because as a wise man afraid of being controversial just told me:
"Conferences are a lot like women - more balanced may be better, but top heavy will get more attention."

As I have watched Lappe's team get worse and less competitive with each passing season, I disagree with you. She needs to go.

I don't watch enough women's BB to disagree, but the Buffs have struggled to keep up with P 12 competition in most sports and the players we want don't seem to want to come here. LL needs better talent and it isn't always the coach's fault that the kids don't want to be here. CU needs some breakout performances to put it in a better light.
If you are getting worse over several seasons (not just one) rather than getting better, it's a no-brainer.
