Don’t blame Neil Diamond that every sports program on earth plays “Sweet Caroline” after a win now. I used to actually like that song.
I enjoyed it so much that it was the first game this year that I watched the replay afterward.
- I didn’t realize Cal was second in the nation in, I think they said, interceptions.
- The holding call on Bobo was bobogus
- The play by both lines was the best of the season
- Mac yelling at Fisher was lame
- What did they do with Stephen Montez and who was that playing QB yesterday
- The pace set by the offense in the first half was crisp and faster than I’ve seen all season. It’s as if the light finally came on for the coaching staff

For basically scoring a touchdown. Mac would have preferred he take a knee when he picked it or gone down before scoring so the clock could have been run out and end the game.
A side note: I almost ripped my tickets up and went home trying to get through security. We’d brought sammiches to bring in and they stopped us and wouldn’t let us take them in. They said there’s been a “no food” rule for years. That may be but we’ve never been denied access before and once in I saw many with their own food.
Then they denied me bringing in my binoculars because they are in a black case. They wouldnt even let us take them out of the case to show them.
I’m getting so sick of this ****ing, lame bull**** that I’m “this” close to cancelling my season tickets. It isn’t fun anymore. Fortunately the win took some of my bitterness away.

Yeah I’m not sure what was going on yesterday but the security guards at the student section gate were complete ass holes. We have a pretty big group and the girls have been bringing the same small purses the entire year and yesterday they said they were too big to bring in without a clear bag. Fortunately the girls just went to the other entrance and it worked out fine but I was shocked they made such a big deal about it.
Security sucks sometimes, they just sound like douchers though. Also, about Fisher, I missed Mac chewing his ass out I guess. Was it during the game and he was still bitching about it after or what?
Right after the play and then he reiterated it in his interview after. And, yeah, he should have kneeled in the end zone.

Right or wrong you don’t complain about scoring points. Yes I get it Cal gets the ball right back to score, but they have to score just to match the points put up. You can get into all the what if’s on both sides of the argument, what if we fumble the snap because our Center snaps it into the pistol 99% of the time. You don’t complain about scoring points.
Yeah I get that part of it. I never usually brought anything out that was past 5 yards, this was like 7 right? Looked like it anyway. Sometimes on deep kicks though, kickoff team will overrun it badly and leave alot of room to work. I'd bet that's exactly what he saw.
I agree, it's hard to bitch about scoring points because it seemingly puts the game out of reach. However, HCMM did the right thing in the sense that you have to constantly be coaching. It was the wrong decision to take that out. The play worked out, and in the end, we won the game and everyone is happy. But it is still a teaching moment. Maybe not be quite as animated as HCMM appeared to be, but never stop coaching.
I think Mac didn’t want Cal to score again so that we would hold them to 3 TD’s. I do sort of get that. Our D has been struggling and it’d have been good to hold Cal under their average which is exactly 28 a game. So I get that aspect of it and sort of agree.
Diagreed. I think this may have been the first time I've ever wanted to yell at MM to STFU. Kid just made a hell of a play that got you 6 points. Let him enjoy the moment. MM can be too rigid for his own good sometimes.

I hope none of you who liked the run back were complaining about the failed fake FG in the UCLA game. Is the outcome all that counts or intelligent football strategy? I would guess Fisher was specifically told “do not attempt a run back” and he didn’t follow that order. If he had fumbled (different outcome) we’d all be yelling at him.

I can’t let this one go. You admit he has proven his hands are awful, but you think he needs to continue to be given more chances? I’m guessing so that he can really, really prove his hands are awful?
The outcome is not all that matters, but it certainly should factor into the reaction.

Impossible not to enjoy the outcome. Except for MM of course. It’s just a little alarming to think about a player either being situationally clueless or not cooperating with the coaching staff.
"Players Make Plays" MM preaches this all the time. Fisher did that. Maybe it wasn't the best decision, but if he wants to teach a lesson then do it in the film room.

I don't see it as any different to when your Point Guard shoots from 30 feet out and hits it or your Center decides to take a three and hits it. Are they supposed to? No, but coaches let it pass if it goes in. If they airball it, they get benched. That's just how it works.

Ok I guess you might be right if he makes the 3 in that situation coach won’t complain. But it’s not smart.
