Official Phillip Lindsay Really is the first undrafted rookie in the ProBowl Thread

Nice to see him finally being given credit for his talent. No doubt he plays with more heart and desire than anyone on the field than him no matter the level, but people seemed to always use it to downplay his impressive natural ability and the combine/draft snub only perpetuated that bull****.

Good point.

Another positive I've noticed, especially important since he is a smaller guy.

He isn't afraid of contact but he has been slippery, he doesn't take a lot of clean, hard shots. Good for his ability to stay on the field.

I noticed on the highlight of the big pass play to Patrick that PL took on a blitz (lb, I think). Stood directly in the path, crouched, and then exploded/engaged.

I was concerned that he might lack the size and strength to do that once he got to the league. Boy, was I wrong.
Late in the 2016 season, I remember him doing exactly that against a big opponent in a big game.

The play for CU was entirely inconsequential - pretty sure Sefo airmailed someone. But Lindsay just blew up this DE/LB in a perfect late blitzer pick-up.

My quote at that moment was "if he makes it into the league, that's why."

For better or worse, there are lots of guys who can actually do what he does with the ball. It's how smart he is and how hard he plays when he doesn't have the ball that sets him apart.

That's why he plays on Sundays, and they don't.

Coaches love having a guy who they know will do what is needed every play without them having to worry about it. Phil is that guy.

See Jeric's post above.

Jealousy levels of PL are very high atm. I don’t know of many people who grow up to live out their childhood dreams. Dude is balling out of control as a big contributor for his hometown club. That’s simply incredible.

I have nothing but respect for the guy.

Everything he's got he has earned through hard work and persistence. He was too small, he didn't go to one of the "big" HS programs known for putting players into college ball. He got injured and worked his way through it coming back stronger than ever. (Remember that a number of fans on this board wanted us to pull his scholly for someone else.)

He has been a leader on and off the field. In good seasons and bad he has been steady.

He got passed over by every team for 7 rounds of the draft, many thought he was camp fodder. He forced his way into the coaches eyes.

And through it all he has been incredibly humble.

Glad he is in Denver not only because he is playing great for the Broncos but also because I see him as one of those guys who long after he is done playing is a solid citizen making contributions to the community.

Remember him stonewalling 6'5", 290 pound Soloman Thomas (4th pick in the '17 draft) in the '16 game against Stanford? He's a great blocker.

A subtle thing that impressed me: At the end of his long run, as he was about to get hit, he pulled the ball to his chest and wrapped both arms around it. Just shows me that his head is always in the game and he won’t make many stupid mistakes. I’m sure the coaches love that about him.

This isn’t even the play you are talking about, but it reinforces consistently handling the pass rush pick up in the backfield on Soloman Thomas in that game.

Phil was obviously great at CU, but watching him on Sundays has me feeling like he hit an extra gear when he got to the NFL. His long one yesterday was so smooth and effortless, with multiple “next level” moves to break it. I just don’t recall him looking that fast and explosive at CU. He’s making NFL defenses look slow at times.

Not having to tote the rock mostly between the tackles 25x per game helps this. PL showed some top end speed in bursts, but I think he played near-injured a lot as the team’s featured back. In an RBBC they can feature him in cool spots on the edge.
