Roper is our interim HC

Good choice. I think he will have the team ready with a different focus. We'll see what changes he makes to the preparation.

Game Management will be interesting, he is very smart and has been working with the Mannings and other very smart football folks. Hopefully, the game management skills show up and make a difference. I do not see a ton of really pissy players, rather a group that uses the word excited. Maybe a can of whoop ass was just opened!!!

Best choice that could be made, telling that he's the QB coach which lends to the players taking notice of the QBs in practice and how they've progressed under his coaching.

QB Room is very talented next year with Montez, Noyer, Lytle, Stenstrom, and Evans, however 1 or 2 of these name may not be there?
Need a solid QB coach hire to keep Evans solid. No doubt Lytle and Strenstrom are solid though

No. We don’t. He’s the position coach for a very mediocre position group, that arguably regressed as the year went on.
I disagree, Lytle has had Spring/Fall and season under Roper and has passed Noyer, I don't buy the 'he's practiced hard all season and we wanted to give him a chance' crap. Correct me if I'm wrong but the first game passes Lytle attempted this season came yesterday..vs Montez 0-7 against Mich. Roper has made a difference in QB play almost to a fault, Montez got sacked several times this season because it was being ingrained in him to stay or step up in the pocket instead of bolting as in 16-17.

Montez very well may have performed better behind a better OL (could be said for most QBs), and Roper is a solid coach. I’m just saying that he does not need to be retained.

Montez started off the season very strong. He looked greatly improved over last season, and generally seemed to be playing smarter football. I've heard he attended the Peyton Manning QB camp over the summer. I think Montez learned a lot at the camp... Especially the mental aspects of the game.

It now seems all of those great skills were forgotten as the season progressed. I wonder if some of it was 'coached' out of him in favor of Roper's strategies?

Chev.... He's a great Buff, but should not be calling plays. I'm not convinced he was 'held back' on the play calling. I think he just doesn't have the skill set required to handle play calling responsibilities.

Montez goes early or grad transfer, Noyer transfers...Lytle will be the starter Stenstrom backs up, Evans red shirts.

Has nothing to do with HC and OC, huh?

Roper has a history of QB tutelage, has turned Montez into a quality QB, and is the greatest reason Evans has maintained commitment to CU in spite of major P5 offers.

A lot of it is on HC and OC, but what have you seen from Montez over the last 6 weeks that suggests he’s a “quality QB”? Others have already stated this, but there are zero assistants on this staff that “must be retained”.

The first 4-5 games showed that Montez was capable of performing well when given the opportunity, albeit the quality of opponents lent to his success as the O line wasn't being dominated. As I pointed out previously, Montez only ran in the OOC out of bear (bare) necessity or a called keeper. You're right Roper doesn't 'need' to be kept but when you consider that all 4 qbs have had a year under his tutelage it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but the OL has a bunch to do with his struggles since ASU game. He jinxed them by having them all at the podium after that game. On roper we agree.

I saw the first 6 weeks. When being protected with good play calling he was great. We were literally worried he’d leave early for the draft. What have you seen from Lytle to suggest he is? You’re one of those guys that always thinks the backup qb is the best player on the team. I’ll bet any amount of money that Montez is the starter going into next year.

Drake and Els have performed in their position groups as strong as anywhere I have seen. Obviously it is up to the new coach, but they are good coaches, and Drake is working hard to be a solid recruiter of big boys on the DL

When did I say anything about Lytle?

I know what I've watched and I know there are 10 other guys on the field...I suppose you're one of the ones that has waited all season for Montez to flash a fraternity sign so you could flip him ****... I wish he'd dunked the posts it would've been worth the penalty if it pumped up the team...God knows they could've use it.
