CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

the biggest thing that sucks about college coaching hires is that you dont get to see the guy and the new staff on the sidelines for 9 goddamn months plus probably wont see how their recruiting pays off on the field for at least 2 years

yeah, but hope is a powerful thing, my friend. i squint my eyes and i see a future of unicorns, rainbows, and glory. our place in football valhalla is earned and we shall be restored.

I could also see the point that maybe Wednesday wouldn't be the best day to make an announcement like this given that vast majority of TV news coverage is going to be focused on other events.

No TV station is going to give their sports segment any extra time on Wednesday, no newspaper editor will give their sports editor a square inch of front page coverage (and they'll probably cut pages from the sports section), etc, etc.

Of course, the answer should have been to move up a day to Tuesday...

Alum. Booster. Host of the Buff Club watch parties as the official location. Rarely posts stuff like that. Would seem out of character for him to make a declarative statement unless he was very confident in it.
He definitely has his finger on the pulse of what is going on. I heard him on the radio the other day and he knows stuff. Buff stuff.

Blake Street Tavern owner:

Nice to hear something, but even things that seem promising (or fake) still take 2 days!
Can you not announce it on Wednesday morning and have a presser on the same afternoon?
The story of a potential change in Agent for Coach MT has some interesting merit?
Has the deal been done for a week, everyone agreed that Wednesday or Thursday this week worked the best for everyone as far as coaching the SEC Game and RG's originally planned trip.
But, Coach Tuckers Agent spills the beans and gets fired over it. New representation is found, and the original schedule is maintained?

Summary, we are all giddy school boys looking to lose our virginity on prom night and we cannot stand the nervous wait

I agree. Wednesday has been declared a "national day of mourning". All federal offices will be closed. I wouldn't expect CU SID to release anything on Wednesday.

Actually, I think we’re all experienced enough at this point, that we can tell a bit pretty quick.

Wednesday would not be a good day to do this.

You don't do all the hoopla of announcing a new head coach on a national day of mourning. I'd be kind of pissed if we did that, actually.

Solid point, we should all also take that day off from posting!!!

The kids should be patient and not swayed by the programs with their **** together. Plus those schools are too busy with bowl prep to do any poaching.

No school is doing bowl prep. Every school has there coaches out right now recruiting and making home visits. There is only 2 1/2 weeks left before early signing day where most kids will sign. If i'm Colorado i'm getting this announcement out as quickly as possibly before the best commits get poached. I mean Titus Toler took a trip to Cal this weekend and is close to flipping to them, Carl Jones just got offered by UCLA and is going to visit them soon and is expected to flip to them, Jaren Mangham is scheduling visits with other schools, and Joshua Allen is expected to announce his decommitment soon.

I agree they should announce tomorrow instead of Wednesday due to the National Day of Mourning. Fed government will be closed on Wednesday.

Yeah, but what does Pasta Jay have to say?

Yeah, it's a little after 8 here in China but Tuesday is just getting started back in the States. Hopefully, there will be some news when we wake up on our Wednesday.
Tuesday is about done here in China and there was no announcement, it's gotta be Wednesday or Thursday now.

True. But my impatience is for winning. In the scheme of things, a Thursday presser instead of a Monday presser isn't going to mean dick.

My question is if recruits have been notified. I can wait, but keeping at least some semblance of a good recruiting class in place is going to make Tucker’s job a hell of a lot easier with his overall roster.

Additionally, he is losing precious time with the signing period.

Good to hear from the owner of Blake St Tavern. Now I'm going to chill.
