CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Rick George on to announce a new football coach, let's make it an interview about bringing baseball back to CU.

Mel Tucker on with an interview you got ahead of the press conference, let's ask him about whether he has sons who play football (which Al needed to explain the reference to Mel about) and then talk about the Broncos.

It's so bad that I am astounded.

all the while, he cracks up likes he the second coming of Carlin or something.

I loved his response to the suggestion that it's going to be hard to recruit where it's hard to be familiar with the Pac-12 because the games are on so late.

(paraphrasing) "We will not put any self-imposed limitations on ourselves."
Loved this too! No excuses. Like mikmac this season talking about the injuries. MT would say next man up. Thats the culture i want here. Lets gooo! Im fired up!!

To each their own. Let's not argue about this since it ultimately does not matter. I just think he's one of those guys that thinks he is better than he is. Instead of just letting his play talk for himself, he likes tweets from Oregon fans telling him to transfer there because he isn't utilized. The head coach who gave you a scholarship is fired and you are retweeting and liking every tweet. Doesn't seem like a team first guy to me deep down. Maybe he's great in pressers and says the right things.
I guess you guys know these kids personally and that gives you the right to trash their character online? I guess your opinion shouldn’t really matter to me but it does make me want to defend them. In any event, my guess is you all will like KD just fine this fall with this awesome new coaching staff mentoring and growing them.

I can almost guarantee that Tucker left the 104.3 interview and asked people at CU, "Who is this DMac fool and do I have to care about him?"

the whirlwind nature of this stage of the process has to be exhausting. but, i am sure that isn't the first ass-clown radio "journalist" that he's had to deal with in his career. i can't wait to see who is coming on board with him.

as for local irrelevant dumbass radio tools, who do you suppose makes more money-- the manager of the aurora walmart or this d-mac person?

Ha whatever man. I like KD. Just thought his handling of everything was immature.

Of course he's a little immature. He's not old enough to legally buy beer. :ROFLMAO:

The important thing to me is that he's passionate, confident and dedicated to winning.
I would agree with all that. I really enjoy watching him play. It was just getting annoying that’s all.

Listened to the 104.3 interview. Loved everything he said. He does seem to believe he's going to recruit the south. we'll see how that shakes out. I really liked that he mentioned the tradition, hopefully he gets behind it. Couple requests: 1. paint the stadium back to gold 2. Go back to the championship uniforms that we had gone back to in 2013. I mean look at these - Intimidating and iconic and are on par with the Oklahoma's, Alabama's, USC's of the world

Glad we finally get to listen to him interviewed. He seems like a genuinely nice man and his recruiting success, I would guess, would stem from being very approachable as opposed to dynamic. I'd rather have that than someone who "makes a nice pitch". He kind of reminds me of Love Smith when he got his first HC gig. D-Coordinators, soft spoken, players' coaches. Both of those guys put in the time, built an impressive resume and seemed overdue for getting an opportunity.

Good for coach Tucker. It's great to see good things happen to nice people.

Not to quibble, but we went back to these in 2011. But I wish wed go back to them again, because I am sick of the stupid uniform/helmet combos every week.

I'm also pretty impressed with and happy for R. George / L. Carl. The identified what TYPE of coach they wanted, set their goals and then went out and got their guy. Whether it was going to be Tucker or Day, you just got the sense that there was a strategy in play and it's damn nice to see the program executing on a plan.

Seems like a guy who genuinely values his players and a guy they’d want to play for. He also seems like a guy a parent would trust their kid to. He seemed much more genuine than Mac did. At least to me. He for sure seems like a guy who will be accountable which I never felt from Mac.

But I’m basing my impression on just a couple of interviews. Time will tell.

I was in Georgia this summer, and honestly folks, there is not that much difference in the geography and the beauty of both states. Georgia is hotter, and Colorado is cooler. I really think he can get kids out here, but as I have mentioned before, drop the CSU's and Nebraska's and keep adding the Georgia Tech's, Tennessee's and make it so that when we get those kids, they can play in their backyards at least once or twice! We also need to win so that we can get on prime times, instead of being on PAC12 after dark, so mom and dad on the East Coast can watch their kid play.

The vibe is so different now!!! We went from the JV Coaches to a real Varsity Coach!

I agree with ditching the weekly mix and match, but our current look along with the Barnett-era unis are light years better than the old look. I think nostalgia gets in the way in when people look at them, and no way are they on par with Alabama, Penn State, Michigan, USC, etc... Stripes on sleeves are no longer a part of uniforms and when they try to put them on these new designs it just looks stupid.
