What exactly does big boy football mean to you? I use the term. Others do too. But what does it mean (in words, no GIFs please)
it means a ruthless commitment to winning. you set the bar high and you expect everyone, everyone, to meet the standard. you continue to evaluate everyone and you make changes decisively when a piece of the puzzle is not hitting the standard. bringing over the whole crew of junior leaguers from sjsu and then holding on to them over time while they continued to demonstrate that they could neither scheme nor recruit at the level we needed was not big boy football. you can't stand still. you don't keep dead weight. and, you don't assume that your little pack of junior leaguers is better prepared than the dozens of excellent coaches out there who have the right experience.
allegedly, mm didn't want either leavitt or chev here. despite their shortcomings, both were light-years better than the guys they replaced. they came from a different pool of candidates.
