I don’t disagree with you. But if the powers that be won’t support the AD then I don’t care who the AD is. He or she can’t succeed.

If RG gets another wack at hiring a football coach, he HAS to use a search firm. IIRC he didn't for Tucker or the current idiot.
Meh. The Athletic Director should command an automomous department with enough money that they have the power to do what they need to win. That’s why the President needs to take the power, find a dynamic AD, and get to work. We have a feckless AD who lost his way with the fundraising component.
Easy peazy.
Yup - RG needs to be as far away as possible from any contract negotiations.

Everyone loves a winner. And frankly, everyone around here would love a mediocre level of winning for a while. Build some hope (that's what Tucker created), win some games and people will start showing up with their wallets. I certainly would.
Recruiting restrictions are solved by the FB program being a higher priority. That has to be a fundamental shift at the highest level. Like others have said, it's not like CU is some juggernaut academically. There's no academic reputation to protect right now, so why enforce unreasonable recruiting restrictions (I don't even know exactly what they are)?
CU football could and should be part of the national discussion as it was back in the early 90's. There's no reason why things can't be corrected to get it back there.
And Tucker was a home run hire. An aggressive athletic director with a clear vision and full support of the University administration is what is needed, not a search firm.
I remain skeptical CU will do what it needs to this season. They’ll win one somehow and fire a bunch of ACs to buy KD another shot at it
I don't know why you'd be skeptical. I mean everything has gone according to plan from what I can see.
Nah, this is Dorrell's full staff now. He's turned over every coaching spot except Hagan. That excuse is done.

I really like this idea. Therefore, it will never happen. But good on you for the thought. This would uncomplicate things tremendously.
I feel this is overly simplistic. There’s only so much “overcoming” that a guy can do with somebody who clearly has a different set of priorities.

How much did we get from Michigan State when they poached Tucker? Presumably that’s money we had not budgeted and would be around to help offset the buyout of the coach we had to hire to replace him especially since we didn’t have to pay a buyout to get Dorrell in the first place.
That money went to cancer research....
RG also found a way to screw that up. His buyout was only $3M.

Oh but he did learn something... don't play QBs that throw interceptions... Unfortunately the QB that we have that has a very low risk of throwing interceptions also isn't accurate, can't read defenses and doesn't see the field. Whether that's because Lewis is hot garbage, or because KD beat a strong fear of interceptions into him is TBD.
That's also probably playing into his fear/unwillingness of changing QBs.
Then do I EVER have a game for you this Saturday at 1:30!
Lol- I'm not going to try to find a needle in a haystack, but I swear to god I've read the exact same post from Duff 3 other times and thinking "Yay! we're at the part of the coaching cycle of suck where I have something to look forward to!"

the hiring of kd was completely inexplicable to any rational person at the time. we got a brief bump of "success" during the covid season with a very shortened season against a reduced schedule of disinterested opponents. and i think that caused those of us desperately searching for potential positive outcome to mostly not put the facts and data front and center.
coaching staff: he's got all his own guys at this point so no more weak link excuses. they do not appear capable of meaningful or really any in-game or game to game adjustments. this is a clear failure but there are 11 more opportunities for them to display their alleged genius and experience this year.
recruiting: nope, not good enough. NIL is a major nightmare for programs like ours so maybe he gets a small pass on failing here. you don't achieve what you don't emphasize (to paraphrase Coach Mac).
player development: catastrophically bad. when the majority of the core players you are relying on all bail out, there is no player development. also, didn't we keep hearing how much better qb play was going to be this year? seriously. and we heard about big s&c improvements but really? if slow and getting pushed around is the new s&c plan, we are really ****ed.
leadership: ask yourself why the team went into quit mode so quickly at the sign of adversity. ask yourself if this coach's interactions with fans, boosters, and the media has proved to be working. fail.
he's not getting fired after the air force game. that is just not how CU rolls. kd will get the next 11 games to prove himself whether we like it or not. ... unless he pushes another media person, of course.
this is going to be another really awful season (lame duck coach marching to doom like hawkins' last year, and embree's...).
the real question i think we need to ask is how many wins will CU consider to be sufficient "improvement" to retain kd? i am pretty sure their metrics for success this year are not aligned with the fans.
