Games thread- MEN'S bball hosts Oregon (Thurs., 1/5/23, 7:00 MT; ESPN2), and OSU (Sat., 7:30 PM MT, Pac 12 Networks)

Yup, but the problem with this team is defense, not offense. Tad's not going to fix that by rewarding a guy who is bad at defense. The options are bad.

Tad either has to compromise his rules or get someone to play defense. Could be disastrous long term to take the bad option. However, the other one is potentially impossible.
Yes, the issues with this team lean defensively but the offense has also cost them games. At this point, I think there has to be some consideration given to next season. That means, a guy like Ruffin needs the minutes because Clifford isn't giving much of anything and I'd think there's a reasonable chance he's somewhere else next season. It's also why I think Wright should be relegated to the bench (already trending that way) and Gabbidon should only get spot minutes when healthy.

Run zone and put the 5 best offensive weapons we have on the floor. Problem solved. I'm joking (sort of).

If only they had a few more wings/guards that could rebound like Hadley, that might work in a joking sort of way.

In spite of the fact we may have just mediocre, or at the very least EXTREMELY inconsistent, players we should easily be 12-3. A weak case/excuses could be made for the early season road losses since we lost a ton of scoring, rebounding, defense and leadership from last year. But the inconsistency has continued. You can bet Oregon has a game plan to throttle KJ so some other guys have to step it up,specifically TDS. I hope the place us packed tonight.

In the past I would call this an almost automatic win for the Buffs. Tonight worries me for the reason you presented. Altman is dirty, but he's not dumb. Richardson and Soares are both big, athletic guards who could cause problems for KJ. If he's shut down, I currently have zero faith in one or two others stepping up. Hell, KJ could go off again tonight and I worry we still wouldn't have enough to win. As you said hopefully the crowd is rowdy, but I doubt it. Students are still on break.

according to KOA, they have a big, athletic center and LL will face a real test.

They also say a "key player" for the Buffs is out - and they'll reveal who shortly

If KJ is out, everyone should just chill and enjoy the game. We will likely lose this game, and get 10 pages of negative comments here 😂

with KJ out, it seems like LOB, Clifford and hammonds are all playing looser, trying more stuff

Absolutely fantastic intensity, defense and dominating the rebounding stats. Also, hopefully, Oregon continues to shoot very poorly from the field. Without KJ, CU is very much challenged on offense. de Silva and Hammond carrying the team on that end.
