CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I’ve read that about 27 million times in the last day or so. These are the same people that think CFB is a historical retrospective that freezes in time once the season ends. Past ≠ future.

I’d argue Colorado is the most misunderstood program in college football and this offseasons events highlight that.

Agree, more is definitely happening. The faces of the regents gave it away. They didn’t want to make this move. Felt like they had to. Whatever existing P12 deal outline got blown up yesterday. If I had to guess “I’ll get back to you” was the message from the networks to the P12.

One of them ESPN who happily orchestrated CU’s move to the b12.
Yep. ESPN had a choice.

A. $31M x 4 = $125M to add the western content they needed for time slots by orchestrating a realignment

-or-

B. $25M-$30M x 10 or 12 = $250M-$360M to do a deal to secure the Pac and accomplish the same thing

That's what ESPN was looking at during its exclusive negotiation window.

Boy you are good at this!

In other words, ESPN gambled that they could kill the Pac.

This isn’t getting enough play while everyone crucifies GK.

16 teams with 4 pods of 4 teams for scheduling purposes.

1. UO, UW, BYU, UA
2. CU, KSU, KU, OSU
3. TTU, TCU, UH, **** bailer
4. ISU, Cincy, WVU, UCF

Annual schedule of your 3 pod-mates plus 2 from each of the other pods.

Do we like this? I think I do. Pod 4 is the only one that's a bit wonky, especially for ISU, but I'm sure they'd be pretty happy with having a leg up on recruiting inroads into OH & FL.
This is it. Don’t change a thing.

Hindsight would have been a PAC-16 with Texas and Oklahoma (and 2 more)... but that mistake was made a long time ago. There is absolutely NO business model thinking. The Pac-12 died because they stuck to the 1900's view of elite academics and kids playing sports.

The Pac-12 refused to believe that College football is really a business.
Who’s to say the Pac-xx wouldn’t be in the same place it now even if UT and OU joined back in the day?

Klatt broke it down nicely. Once BIG and SEC got their deals, there was only enough money from the linear outlets for one more moderate deal. Yormark and B12 recognized that and jumped the line. GK and the Pac felt there was more money to be had via streaming.

GK and the Pac are the ones who gambled and the pushed all their chips in on streaming. I said it months ago, but streaming is where the next round of realignment and media contracts will be heading, but it’s not there yet, and a second rate conference like the Pac 10 was foolish in ever thinking they would be the trailblazers. It didn’t work with their efforts to own their network and it didn’t work with the streamers.

Admit it, you did this partially just to piss @Darth Snow and myself off, didn't you?

****er.

Love our grouping, and yes I was thinking the same thing that group 4 is the only questionable one but the other 3 make so much sense that group 4 ended up being so by default. And at least Cincy and WVU are close to each other.

Its been reported that Utah Admin has burned a lot of bridges with the B12 Admin so I think they are way down the list. UU fans have all said they are too good for the B12 and are sure to be added next to the B1G. I say we go with their plan.
So did/are we. Yet, here we are.

I believe that.

I believe that CU was told they're confident that the deal (no final numbers yet) will be within close enough range of the Big 12 to not justify a move but to get to that projected number it will require primarily app distribution with games on ESPN/ABC played on Friday & Saturday nights which finish at midnight or later for east coast viewers.

CU, with its FL & other ETZ recruiting focus and not having the same level of travel cost/ mileage/ time change concerns as much of the conference said, "We aren't going to take less money to get that, particularly when you can't even guarantee even the numbers you're saying. Bye."

I’m of the same opinion. The deal or whatever it was (outline) was probably comparable. RG said linear and exposure and time slots over and over.

But… at the end of the day we didn’t get paperwork we could sign. We might never know the truth about the delay either.

You know it’s just talking out of ass right? No need to be disappointed.
I am actually disappointed we didn’t sign a P12 media deal bc I mentioned a few times I’d bump up to a paid subscription once we signed. Well, that’s gone and I’m a man of my word.

Maybe I need to reset it to if Oregon and Washington join the B12 I go paid subscription. Or it’s poop emoji 4L but for real this time.
