From ESPN's College Football Rumors:
Al Lesar of the South Bend Tribune writes that Saturday's "possible program-shattering" loss to Navy might be, to quote Liz Lemon, the deal-breaker for athletic director Jack Swarbrick.
Lesar writes: "Motivation has sailed away. It's a season that's sinking fast. This has all the makings of 'abandon ship' time." He asks how a Navy team that lost to Temple a week earlier could come back and outclass the Irish. He wonders how Weis and assistant head coach/defense Jon Tenuta could use the same scheme they did a year ago. ("We had a pretty good clue that they were going to come back and do the same things as they did last year," Middies coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "We had a few things [planned for that defense].")
Pete Fiutak of CollegeFootballNews.com goes a step further, suggesting that Niumatalolo might actually be a good replacement for Weis. Irish fans want Brian Kelly of Cincinnati, but Kelly will be the hottest name out there and Notre Dame certainly won't be the best situation he could walk into. Plus, Kelly continues to insist that he is happy at Cincinnati and that he believes he can win a national championship there, so there is no reason for him to leave.
Also, the Insider writer from ESPNChicago said that at the least it looks like staff changes will be forced and that John Tenuta and Corwin Brown are gonzo from the defense.
