 My wife and I went to Columbus for the OSU/CU game. Had a great time at the Varsity Club on Friday night with Buff Club members and other CU fans, even met Stuart Whitehair from www.cuatthegame.com. On Saturday prior to leaving our hotel I called the OSU police department to check on their policy regarding backpacks, binoculars, camera, water bottles, etc in the 'shoe. I was told no problem with any of the mentioned items. As we went through the ticket gate, my wife's purse was searched as was my backpack. We were escorted to a "secondary screening area" by a sheriff's deputy and a stadium event crew nazi started to search our bags again. My wife's had already been ok'd, my backpack was the problem. In it I had the above mentioned items plus a CU nylon pullover and a couple of plastic rain coats. After everything had been dumped on the table I was informed that my camera lens wouldn't be allowed in the stadium. My camera is a Canon 60D and I had two interchangeable lens with me. The rule, No professional cameras or lens are permitted in the stadium, except for photographers working the game on the sidelines, with no explanation given. I had a private conversation with the sheriff's deputy who told me that he could do nothing about it, the stadium event nazis were in charge of internal operations of the 'shoe. Finally after more discussions with the stadium nazi and his supervisor they permitted me to take my camera and other gear into the stadium. As we walked away, the sheriff's deputy told me that the reason for the no professional camera/lens rule was because the OSU football players were having their friends take action pictures during the game, then later on a second picture was taken with the player autographing the action picture, showing the authentic signature, and then selling both on eBay or other sports collectible outlets, with the friend and the player pocketing the money. I guess it was just more of the same scamming and cheating by OSU players that caused this no professional camera rule.:wtf:
The pictures from OSU are the CU fans in Section 8C and the OSU band making the CU block logo and playing Shoulder to Shoulder, a very classy act! The OSU fans were great. Only the stadium event staff were a-holes.
