A late addition to the 2008 class, friend and fellow 2008 Buff Doug Rippy told CU coaches that Rodney "Speedy" Stewart was an overlooked guy that CU needed to recruit. Stewart made an official visit on February 1st and signed his LOI 5 days later on NSD. Speedy surprised everyone in 2008 when he led the team in rushing (622 yards / 4.7 avg) despite missing the final 4 games with a broken leg (caused by an illegal horsecollar tackle from TAMU's Von Miller). In 2009, Speedy started the season slowly due to a hamstring injury and did not get going until the 3rd game of the season. Over the final 10 games of 2009, Speedy had 9 touchdowns and 766 yards rushing (also catching 11 passes for 58 yards over that stretch). Speedy is entrenched as the #1 RB heading into the 2010 season. He is looking for his first 1,000 yard rushing season and to become a bigger part of the passing game.
