    Re: New Commit?

He has an offer and committed, right? He is a one star TE, is there something the regular fan doesn't know about this kid? Don't get me wrong, happy to have a Colorado kid on board. Just wondering. :shot:

Just that the coaches wanted to see him at camp before they offered, they saw something they liked and didn't waste more time.

These one and two starred Colorado kids who live and breathe Buff Football tend to work out for us. I don't know if it's their proximity that permits the staff to better evaluate their talent, or if they're ultra-dedicated because it's their lifelong dream to wear Black and Gold with Silver trim.

Whatever the reason, I love those guys. Welcome to our newest Buff commit!!!

    Re: New Commit?

To increase stars, a player needs to be offered by schools outside of Colorado.

Wait as long as possible to commit, the fewer players left in a position who are weighing competing offers, the more desirable they seem.

Need to be seen and perform well at multiple camps, showing well against other players with more stars.

Obviously the measurables and stats help, but those above are all factors.

Jasper- I don't think I can edit my thread title.

I like this pick-up. He obviously has the size, and the fact that the coaches saw him in person and offered is a plus.

Eh, the mods will come along and update it.

What's great, besides that he's got the size and talent, is that he's a lifelong buff fan. We were always his top choice, he just wanted an offer.

    Re: New Commit?

    Awesome! welcome to the family.

What I really like is that he was wanting an offer from CU. He knew that CU was wanting to verify on his blocking skills and such. He apparently worked hard by adding muscle and busting his but getting better with the things CU coaching staff wanted from him. That says a lot about, He wanted to get an offer from CU and was willing to do what it took to get it. Now that he has gotten the offer I am really excited to see how he pans out with his continuing work ethic (whether it drops or not--doubt it though) and how his senior season goes.

    GO HAWK!!!!!
    GO BUFFS!!!!!!

    Re: New Commit?

Yes he does, but he committed to the Buffs after yesterday's camp. The coaches told him they wanted to see him camp, and they offered.

Since Colorado was always his number one (according to his bio), it was apparently an easy jump for Slavin to say Yes to the offer.

I think buf190 was just pointing out the other interest. Wonder how Syracuse got sold on him? BTW, they have another common offer in OH TE Schneider.

    Re: New Commit?

Since he is a Chatfield kid, he is probably pretty damn smart.

Anyway, looks like a solid get and will be one of the two TEs we end up signing.

    Re: New Commit?

Now that he's comitted, he won't likely see any more offers as he's about as solid as solid gets. That means he'll likely get upgraded to a 2-star. Much more important to me is this staff knows him well by now and have seen him compete against some good competition in camp and they jumped on him. When we can get kids that camp here and the staff wants them, the hit rate is pretty high that they pan out.

This kid looks like a great pickup to me. 3 Colorado kids on board.

I'm starting to like this pick-up more and more. It sounds like he has an incredible work ethic and is already doing whatever the CU staff has told him to do. And his whole family is Buff grads/season ticket holders:thumbsup:

Yeah I just saw that!! :woot:It's only a matter of time before Nick gets his 3*, AND depending on how Spond and Hinder do in their season we may still wind up with the top recruit in the state! :smile2:

    Good for Kyle!

Hoping that Mister Jones earns a 4th star this season.

I'll be interested to see whether Hirschman's Rivals Rating comes in. Should be somewhere between 5.5 and 5.7 on the border of being a 4*.

    Scout has updated their rating.

Kyle is now a 3* on Scout (he was already 3* on Rivals).

    From his ESPN Eval:
I was hoping for a blocking TE. Sounds like Hawk found a good one.

Could be we go after a JUCO.

Also, I believe there's still a chance that Luke Walters applies to the NCAA for a medical year and comes back as a 6th year senior. That would give us a senior, a junior (Deehan) and at least 2 RS-Freshmen (as many as 5 if Wood sticks as a walk-on, Slota moves over, or Darden becomes a TE instead of a WR).

Re: '10 CO TE Kyle Slavin (Committed to Colorado)

That's a lot of ifs. DaVaughn is more of a receiving threat at TE which is unfortunate considering we're a run first team... TE will be a weak spot of next years team that's for sure
