We are in on a LOT of QBs early. Disproportionate # wise. Looks like the staff wants this position locked down soon.
It is how most winning programs approach QB recruiting. We shall see how it goes with this staff.
EDIT: There really are no excuses this year in landing a blue chip QB prospect. Most of the Pac-12 schools are being very selective in offering QBs (if they even offer any at all).
Arizona: Offers out to two elite QB prospects, one player from Arizona (Connor Brewer) already committed to Texas.
Arizona State: Two offers out to two elite QB prospects, Connor Brewer and Cyler Miles. They did take two high school QBs in the 2011 class.
Cal: They have a commitment from Zach Kline for the 2012 class. They should be done.
Oregon: They do not recruit the same type of QBs as we do.
Oregon State: Only two offers out to QBs, including Cal commit Zach Kline
Stanford: Already has a commitment for the 2012 class from Skyler Morhinweg. They also took two QBs in the 2011 class. The only QB they are waiting is Mercer Island, WA dual threat Jeff Lindquist.
UCLA: One offer out to Zeke Pike (longshot) after two QBs in the 2011 class, including the coach's son. Come on now.
USC: The Trojans still carry a lot of weight with QB recruits, even after taking two blue chips in the 2011 class. Scholarship reductions might make a difference here in 2012, they have offers out to national recruits Pike and Gunner Kiel (as do we), but do not have a very good chance at either. They are a wild card.
Utah: Offers out to four QBs, including Wilson and Cyler Miles. Norm Chow still has some pull with QB recruiting.
Washington: Offers out to six QBs, including Wilson and Miles. They lead for Wilson and are in contention with Stanford with the aforementioned dual threat QB Linquist.
Washington State: Who cares.
We really need to lock down a QB early and beat some of these schools to the punch.
