Favors Cal, UCLA, and UCLA right now and has taken unofficial visits to all three. But he seems intent on taking his time with the process too and taking some official visits before deciding.

He is listed as TE in all the databases, but I think he going to grow out of that position.

Cali High has him as the pre-season #10 prospect from California this year.

It’s more then Jalen’s just big, he has the body of a football player. Very broad shoulders, fluid hips, strong legs and a frame that could probably add another twenty pounds. Football players physically mature so much in their first 12 months of college When you consider that Jalen is 16 months away from being a college freshmen, you can really understand the sky is the limit as far as his physical potential.

Jalen’s size allows him to project to play a few different positions in college: tight end, offensive tackle or defensive end. Jalen has enormous potential on both sides of the ball and his final position likely won’t be determined until college but he has been recruited as a tight end. Jalen has played defensive end in high school.

The comments in that rivals article were definitely encouraging. Will take anyone with his size and athleticism anytime.

It's going to be interesting with kids who have an interest in UCLA this year. They seem to be in on a bunch of very good prospects and being located in LA they will always get the interest of kids. At the same time Slick Rick hasn't exactly been building adynasty there. They seem to be going downhll based on on-field results and Neu is back to his habits of ignoring the interior lines in favor of seven on seven guys.

If Neu doesn't start to win a bunch of games the LA media machine is going to go to work on him speculating when he will be fired, it seems like sometimes it takes longer than others but it is very rare that coaches survive once the blood starts dripping into the water. If he gets fired then a lot of his recruits will be looking for new places to go, if he doesn't get fired but the speculation is running hot he will still have a hard time keeping the class together.

Both Embry and Bienemy are well known in the LA high school coaching community. Even if guys commit to UCLA the perception of a program on the way up vs. a coaching staff on the way out at UCLA could turn some guys our way. The problem might be if the guys turning our direction don't end up bumped out by other earlier commits at the same position.

Latest Scout update Cope-Fitzpatrick taking his time with the process. He will take all five official visits, I think we have a good shot at one of those visits.

I switched him to TE. Seems that's where he's being recruited and it is also how each of the services evaluated him.

Jalen would be a great pickup for us. Considering his blocking ability and our returning TEs, I'd see him playing as a true freshman in 2012 for us.

Really hope he can make it out to Boulder this summer. I could see him playing as a true freshman.

    Thanks, BB.

I wholeheartedly agree. I love this prospect. He's like another offensive lineman on the field and he's got the athleticism to be an effective receiver, too. One of my favorite targets this cycle.

Has a top three of Washington, Cal, and Colorado but is also looking at Florida and Tennessee but it looks like if USC wins their appeal, USC has a good shot.

If Embree hauls in this guy and McNamara, I'd hump his leg on NSD.

We have a very solid chance on this one, his head coach played at CSU with Brookhart. Likes the use of TE in our offense, which is great to hear.

Yep. I actually think we're close to gaining a commitment. Hopefully his unofficial to CU goes as well as I expect.

He showed off a lot of athleticism at the Stanford Nike Camp last weekend, although he was inconsistent in catching the ball. Regardless, he weighed in at a trim 238 pounds, which solidifies him as a future TE all the way IMO.
