    From the linked Scout profile:

Here's what the Denver Post had to say when they named Dalton to the All-Colorado team as a junior:

Take a look at the entire 2010 All-Colorado team here...

MaxPreps also named Dalton to 1st Team All-West Metro 5A for 2010. link

It looks as if Grossnickle may get a shot to win the placekicking duties now that we've brought in Brundage. Grossnickle was actually more highly rated as a kicker than punter out of high school, so it could be the right place for him. Even if he stays at Punter, he'll be a sophomore in 2011. That would make him a junior in 2012 and we could redshirt a freshman punter while having him available as an emergency backup in case of injury. We could even consider a grayshirt offer and push it back a year. We've also got a ton of scholarships available this cycle.

Usually there's no rush with specialists, so the staff can probably wait until fall camp and see how things shake out. Dalton's a local kid to keep an eye on, though.

    ST players on scholarship

    K- Will Oliver, castor, Grosnikle
    Punter- Brundage, Grosnickle

Brundage averaged 44 yard per punt on 26 attempts, expect that average to go up playing in Colorado.
Grosnickle disapoiinting 37 yards per punt on 60 attempts, playing half of the time in Colorado.

Dalton would be a nice pick up for Colorado.

Bear Creek's primary colors are green and gold.

Would be surprised if we use a scholarship on a punter in this class, but that could change during/after the season.

Yeah! A 10 yard per punt upgrade would be huge.

He's a good athlete as well, and he's been to my house before (sister goes to BC so mutual friends) and he seem's pretty cool.

2 fantastic catches tonight. I thought he was a punter? Looks like McCulloch.

Punting takes a lot of athletic ability, not a lot of good punters who aren't also very good athletes. Some are skinny enough or small enough that you wouldn't want them playing a regular position but quite a few have been good enough that they could have.

Way back Billy Van Huesen was the punter for the Broncos and also a starting WR. Later Ray Guy who may have been the best punter ever to play was also an All-American safety in college, Reggie Roby who was an all-pro punter hit a couple of punt returners hard enough to put them out of the game in his career.

At CU, Barry Helton actually came to the Buffs as a QB and coaches said that he was a good enough athlete that he could have started as a position player but was to valuable as a punter to risk.

I think you might be serious, but if this is sarcasm then I totally agree.

Ditto that. Very few kickers or punters at D1 or NFL are very athletic but there are exceptions. In high school the best athlete might be the punter. After that it gets more specialized. On college and pro TD return highlights most of the time the last scene is a kicker hopelessly flailing.

Punters are much better athletes than Kickers, as a general rule.

I would bet on Sebastian Janikowski against Garo Yepremian in a cage match any day, as a general rule.

No sarcasm at all. A lot of placekickers have a gross lack of athletic ability. Guys like the Yepremians of the world or Janakowski now could arguably do nothing athletic except kick a football placed in front of their foot.

The act of punting on the other hand requires a level of coordination and full body involvement that requires a pretty high level of athletic ability. There have been some exceptions but in general athletic ability I would argue that most punters are pretty good athletes. They may not be big enough and have the overall strength to play other positions but many are good at other sports.

Punting is elementary. Catch the snap, take your approach and kick the ball. The pressure is all that has to be dealt with. Full body involvement is usually reserved for manic sex. I suspect you are shorter than you would like to be. It's ok.

Good WR too. Could be a weapon on fake punts.

After 3 years of 'money', hawkins 30% kicker, Oliver was worth his weight in gold.
