Major prospect. That reported 4.35 forty may actually be conservative. I don't know much about where we stand with him, but I'm glad that we're taking our shot. Worth keeping an eye on.

Seems like a lot of prospects feel this way, except the ones from Colorado.

Texas Kid that wants to stay close to home, well that will be only explanation i can come up with at this time, because it makes absolutely no sense to pick Baylor over the other schools on his offer list.

All I'm getting from this thread is that apparently..

    Baylor <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< SMU?

Coleman going to Baylor makes a whole hell of a lot more sense to me than Marks even thinking about going to SMU.

Marks wants to play in a spread offense in college and the SMU coach has a history of getting receivers into the NFL, hell he almost commited to SMU on his visit.

Damn you just won't let this go will you. SMU is a very nice school (campus looks like a country club) located in a major city and has very good academics. There football program has been on the upswing, there coach is an ex NFL coach with a successful track record in college, and their system is very friendly to WR's such as Marks. On the other hand there is not a single nice thing I can say about Baylor or Waco. It's only advantage over SMU is that it's in a BCS conference. No one was saying that Marks should go to SMU or that it's better then CU, just that it's not that suprising that he would be interested in them.

I'm not trying to make a case that SMU sucks again, that seemed to be pretty soundly defeated by popular opinion. And fwiw I never said it was a garbage school, but football wise one would think offers from Colorado and UCLA would trump it, but obviously the kid wants to put up big time stats in college, so whatever. All I was trying to say was that for 95% of recruits, I'd venture to guess that an offer from SMU barely registers when offers from Colorado and UCLA are present.

What I was doing was pointing out that everyone is amazed that a kid from Texas chose to commit to the only school in Texas that offered him. It just doesn't seem that odd to me. Texans seem to overwhelmingly love to stay home.

    And JRK:

You guys really crack me up sometimes. Baylor is a pretty decent football program with an exciting offense and coached by a very successful former Texas high school football coach who has contacts all over the state. They also happen to winning lately and the school itself is not bad at all. The fact the school is only a few hours from home and allows him to play in front of friends and family during his career does not hurt either.

His offer list must be BS. No o one chooses Baylor over Oklahoma.

Offer lists are questionable this year, more than most. Schools aren't allowed to send written offers until September. I've noticed a lot of the recruiting guys are trying more than usual to verify offers with the kids' high school coaches.
