    Thanks for the info.

But you say that like Colorado doesn't sign 4*/5* players and isn't a major program (top 20 all-time). Dan Hawkins was a blip and even that boob was able to pull a top 15 recruiting class at CU.

Colorado IS a big time program. We're just in a down time right now like ALL big time programs go through.

Not to mention that nobody has any idea of how many stars he will be assigned when they finally rate him. They don't give star ratings to sophmores, usually they start giving at the end of their junior year and some guys don't get rated until they are seniors.

No question that he is a quality prospect as a Soph but lets hold off on the 5* stuff until we actually see him play another year of football. It is amazing how many sophmores who claimed they had no interest in programs other than the top 5-10 who by the time they are in their senior year are just hoping for a BCS AQ level offer. Again not saying that that will happen to Cravens but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

“His early top-5 was USC, OU, Stanford, ND and Arkansas. But that will change. Texas is going to be in contention for an official visit,” said the source.

Basically, USC is the favorite at this point, but Cravens is definitely going to take visits, and there is definitely a possibility that he makes it to UT for an unofficial visit. (McComas...Orangebloods)

Also, this kid had a cousin that played at USC (Jordan cameron) but also has family ties in texas. Another cool fact is he is cousins with Notre Dame's
    Manti Te’o.

USC's class is ridiculous. If these players play like they're rated it won't matter much that they lack depth because of sanctions.

What lack of depth? The sanctions cost them...2 transfers and 5 less 3*

Future lack of depth from only being able to take ~15 kids a cycle, it will catch up to them soon.

Theoretically correct. However, falling to about 60 players is doable, figuring 22 starters plus a couple of specialists plus a bunch of special teamers who are also backups. So if you managed to get 15 starters per year, you can keep fielding a team. If they are mostly 4 and 5 star talent, you can keep fielding a damn good team.

That's assuming that none of them washout, which is not likely one bit IMO and then if you add injuries, which happen to every team every year, it adds up. It won't happen this year, but in 2013 and 2014 there could be some big issues for the condoms.

Nothing bad will happen to SC from this point forward. The PAC 12 North will be stacked for many years but still will rely on on team home games to beat them. Have you guys ever played them at home? SC is getting so many quality recruits that only UCLA and Colorado (preferably in winter) playing them at home can stop them. They don't get injuries-they transfer players to JC. They own the Southern Division. Take them at home! Good luck.

We've been there before. In the old Big 8 days, it seemed like the winner of the Oklahoma v. Nebraska game was going to the Orange Bowl to play for the national championship just about every year. It took about 8 years to get there with the right coach and plan, but we overtook them both and went on a run for about a decade of being one of the top five programs in the nation. When CU is rolling (ranked consistently), we'll consistently recruit in the top 15 in the nation.

Stacked? Right now where I'm sitting the Norte is just as stacked as the South. There's 1 team and 5 little brothers.

Actually, it doesn't assume that at all. O+D+ST= 33 players, even if you go with a few more, that leaves a full team left on the bench. SC could do it if anyone could. Besides, if they wash out, they get the scholarship back, as LF pointed out. Injuries are another story, but there is cushion there - you'd want more but all I claimed is it's doable.

Their danger is the unknowns. Injuries may have an effect, as may early draft entrants, academic losses, transfers for closer-to-home or more-playing-time, and even potential disciplinary problems (I know, it's kiffinelf and u$c - don't laugh too hard because it is possible). Unexpected losses will have a greater impact because of the smaller roster size. How many will they have? Who knows .....

The Catch-22 with recruiting at this level is that nearly everyone who works out will leave after 3 years. It's going to take USC longer than other programs to get back to 85. If they have an injury season like the Buffs had last year, they'll be in serious trouble.

What they do eliminate to a large extent though is the biggest source of "fallout," the kids who just can't play or play up to expectations. Every kid coming in is a gamble, even taking away the unknowns you listed. What USC is greatly reducing because of the quality of their recruits is the number of guys who show up and take a scholly but never develop into a contributor on the field.

I do think over time the sanctions will effect them but not nearly as much as they would a team that isn't recruiting the quality of kids SC gets and has a higher percentage of recruits that don't work out over time. The bigger issue for them is Kiffen. He has done well so far as a coach but with the talent he inherited who wouldn't (other than the guy we just fired?) I am not convinced that he can sustain it over time. He hasn't shown that he is a great coach and he seems to have that be stupid and self-destruct button just waiting to get pushed.
