    Recruit Scoop:

Also, Adam had a nice write up on him last May. Honestly, he's probably not a prospect the Buffs will be going after (and I'm surprised to see Gonzaga mentioned repeatedly as well). He'd be great at Northern Colorado though. Local kid, so we'll keep an eye on him.

Know him personally and have played with him. He is a good player with a good shot and is much more polished than Connor Osborne who went to unc and also went to columbine. I would love to see a preferred walk on type but with limited space he isn't a scholarship player.

just a bump on this. In the game where Perkins had 39 against Columbine, Jon had 37 points and looked just as impressive. 2 for 3 from downtown and made all nine free throws.

I am hoping that soon, these really good instate players with no offers, will be happy to walk on to our growing program at Colorado.

If the kid has "Ivy League School Grades", CU would have to be his ultimate dream of dream schools to walk on instead of take an Ivy League School Scholarship...and even then I might think the kid is crazy to make such a move, despite my CU homerism

He does love CU. That would be his dream offer, but I am 99% sure he is being talked to by some Ivy League schools.

Keep in mind that Ivy League schools do not offer athletic scholarships. They offer scholarships based on need. I don't know what his family finances look like, so I don't want to make any assumptions there. However, if he really does have some skills, and he's a good student, I'm sure an Ivy League School will find a way to make sure his education is paid for.

It is based on need, often it is based on how badly they think they need the player.

If he is a good enough student and it is what he wants to do it would be foolish to turn down an opportunity to go to one of the elite schools and make the contacts he can make there.

On the other hand if he wants to be a part of a higher level program and he wants to stay closer to mom's cooking he could do a lot worse than being a Buffalo BB player and getting a CU education.

One of the things to keep in mind is that Tad has shown an ability to find roles for guys. Very few people, especially when he was coming out of HS, would have expected Chen to be a starter for a team with a solid shot at the tourney, even as an at large.

At worst he could expect to be a solid practice player and get some minutes in garbage time, at the same time he could honestly believe that if things turn out right and he develops he could be a contributing player at this level. He looks like he has the body size to be a solid contributer in practice and maybe bang some people a little in games.
