Seems to me HCMM is seeing the same thing our scouting reports from practices have seen regarding our deficiencies given apparent interest in bringing in another QB and TE who could join immediately and have an impact.

Watching SJSU last year, they had TE's who were athletic and pass catching types. This was a "feature" they used extensively.

We got one of those guys on the roster right now, which isn't enough depth. And he's a kid I continue to fear could transfer due to his Dad's issues. Hope not.

Same here. I am hoping HCMM is concerned about the depth at TE, which is reasonable.

Sounds like we're in good position, but it would be smart to lock this down ASAP.

Interestingly, Moeai was a 6'0" 190 lb TE coming out of high school. He redshirted at the JUCO and hit a growth spurt. He's grown over 3 inches and added about 40 pounds to his frame in the past 2 years.

"...he is hearing from Ole Miss, South Florida, Utah State, Arizona State, Oregon State, Western Michigan and Rutgers."

I like the 3 to play 3 part. He has enough time left to become a longer term contributor. A lot of JCs take a year to get acclimated, give you a year and are gone. With this guy we should be able to get at least two solid years out of him even if it takes a year to adjust to the program.

It took him 2 years to gain 40 lbs? That's no big deal, Tini tells me that Shane Dillon is going to gain 30 lbs this summer.

How can we be hurting for TE's in an offense that uses them more sparingly than the 2-3 Embree liked to use? After the greatest Tight End coach of all time just left here? I'm starting to get concerned our staff is out to lunch....

    From Wiki on Jon Embree:
[h=3]Notable players coached: Christian Fauria (All-Big 8), Matt Lepsis (All-Big 8 2nd team), Daniel Graham (2001 John Mackey Award Winner), Marcedes Lewis (2005 John Mackey Award Winner), Tony Gonzalez (Pro Bowl all 3 seasons under Embree with his best 3-year statistical stretch of his career despite entering his 30s), Chris Cooley (39 receptions through 8 games in 2010).[/h]

Looks like a very good TE. We need more talent at every position.

With Hobbs not participating this spring and it unknown if he's even coming back, signing Moeai has become incredibly important. We need to get him on board and on campus this summer working the 7on7 routes with our QBs.

Is that literally what caused us to miss out on him? If so, ****.

It's killing us with several guys. They can go to USC, Cal, Utah, Syracuse... no problem. But they've got to commit to taking extra coursework over this summer if they want to come to CU.

So how..and why is this happeneing? Does the school NOT want us to be competitive? How can they expect us to complete if they hold us at a disadvantage?

My understanding is that it's not active obstruction from Admissions. It's more a case of CU not offering or crediting a lot of courses. For example, CU has about half the number of majors as UCLA. There is no General Studies or Physical Education, for example.

What we really need is for an in-state community college to step up with athletic programs. CU has that deal of automatically accepting in-state juco coursework. I think we have a couple CO jucos that play hoops (not great ones, but they play), but I don't think any play football.

CSU fills that role nicely but it would be nice to have a couple more.

Exactly the requirements are the same as the general student body.

CU's path back to relevancy is MUCH longer with the prohibitive factors affecting Junior College transfers. Just ONE more frustrating attribute to our failures.
