Glenn rushed for over 1,500 yards with 24 touchdowns as a junior and also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He said he could make a verbal commitment before the summer is over, but he still plans to take official visits in the fall. Glenn said he doesn't plan to do any individual summer camps, but he'll be active with his teammates in 7-on-7 camps as well as working a summer job.

So I guess we are taking more than one running back this cycle?

You can never be overstocked with quality RB's with the type of offense that this staff wants to run. This guy looks pretty good.

With about 8 seniors currently, I'd debate that.

Lots of top players at the college level played something else at the HS level. If we have to many RBs and they are good enough athletes then somebody moves to safety, WR, etc. Bring in a bunch of top athletes, let them compete for spots, and move the ones who don't win the job to someplace else they can contribute.

Coming of Hawk who recruited kids who couldn't even compete athletically at the positions they were recruited for.

Not implying that Glenn would be moved or should be, only saying that if you look at teams that win consistently they tend to bring in athletes first then worry about where to play them instead of bringing in guys for postitions and then hoping they can actually play. I don't remember which one it was but I do recall during the Switzer era one of his Orange Bowl teams had something like 9-10 starters playing different positions than they played in HS or were recruited for. Coach Mac moved more than a few guys as well.

I just like the idea of bringing in guys who can compete athletically then figuring out what to do with them.

Good arguement, I just wish we were in a place that a guy could take 2-3 years to learn a new position. Most of the ~15 guys we'll recuit this season will need to be playing sooner, rather than later.

There should be a little more flexibility with RS next year. We'll see some depth on both lines, QB and DB should be stable and we'll have a lot of young WR's gain experience this year, then bring Richardson back into the mix. The young LB's are probably the kids with the best shot to play early, since we'll need the the depth there.

An undersized RB? Shouldn't we be meeting that quota at some point?

I like his film. I'd be happy to have him. He sure wouldn't have to get used to the colors or the mascot. Awesome High School!

I don't know that I'd call him undersized at 190 pounds. Considering he could easily get to 200+ in a year.

I'm definitely not worried about his height. Take a look at the rankings of this years draft class! http://www.draftcountdown.com/Rankings/RB.php

Anytime I see a RB tackled up around the shoulders, I can only see Speedy and Von Miller. Still havent forgiven him for that tackle.

I guess it comes down to how easily he can get to 200+. He might also be smaller than listed.

Glenn looks like a better version of Philip Lindsay to me. Seems like we are collecting running backs more than actually finding a surefire starter.

Exactly. It's more about frame than height.

The two leading rushers in the NFL last year were Maurice Jones-Drew (5'8") and Ray Rice (5'7"). Each is built like a brick ****house, though, and carries about 210 lbs.

We'd all love sure fire starters to come in as freshman. The problem is that those guys are the 5 star players that we haven't made it into the top 2 schools with yet. I believe that it is a process and I'll trust our staffs RB scouting and developing for now. I like the talent that is coming in this year and one or two are bound to break out for us. We'll get that blue chipper type like a D'Anthony Thomas once we establish a successful run game.

I do not expect to land a 5* RB every year. I do expect to be in contention for some 4* backs and landing at least one 5.7rr 3* in most years. We are paying Bieniemy a good chunk of change in large part for his recruiting ability and I know most Buffs fans had high expectations for RB recruiting when he took over, even if they will not admit it now.

Thus far under the new staff, we were kind of in contention for 4* Wes Brown and briefly had BJ Catalon (ended up being a 5.7rr 3*) committed. It should not be unreasonable to expect a bit better than that going forward.

We have offers out to those guys. I looked back through the list, and I couldn't figuer out where we stood with a lot of them. Have we written them off yet?

I liked his film more than I thought I would. Good speed, looked good in the screen, blocked well.

What I liked -- top end speed, vision, good hands (would fit well with our screen game).

What I questioned -- good speed but didn't seem to "burst" through openings. Maybe there are other vids out there that would show this.

Actually in this case the number of smaller athletes we can take is limited by the size of the class. I also think that there is a very good chance that this guy is both a better RB and a better athlete than the guy we already have committed at RB.

Jaximus also has a good point, if he is close to 190 already then with another year of HS and a RS year he could very easily be 205-210 which makes him a short RB, not an undersized RB.

    Committed to Houston.

What's the word on whether we're taking another RB this cycle? We only have a couple offers out to uncommitted RB's and who knows if those are even accurate/valid. Unless we can get a blue-chip player it looks like we'll just go with Lindsay.

I think it would have to be the type of player that we simply can't turn down. A 2nd RB is not a priority for this class.
