'14 CO WR Dylan Spradling (Verbal to Colorado - PWO)

Also mention that this is a kid who is good enough that he could get his school paid for from day one at the FCS level. The staff is giving guys reason to believe if someone is willing to pass up the opportunity to go to school for free to be part of it.

Love this commitment. Not just because he's an in-state kid (although that's part of it). You need your walk-ons to push starters for PT and to be able to challenge the guys on the other side of the ball to not take any reps off. As I said early in this thread, Spradling is a guy who could earn a scholarship down the road. Important get for the program.

Super happy to have him. Always good to have athletes that can contribute.

Right now, the main question I ask with any of the moves is: "Does this make the roster better than it was before?" When you look at the 110 or whatever the full roster may be, the answer here is a resounding "Yes". We tend to focus as fans on the few headline recruits in a class, but it's at least as important that we see HCMM building a roster that doesn't make us cringe when we look beyond the 2-deep (or in the spring, beyond the projected starters). One of the big issues the Buffs have had is that we haven't been able to look at a guy who is injured, in trouble or slumping and say, "Next man up". Also, that guys have gotten PT by default because there wasn't quality throughout the roster.

Anyone here active on that board? Would be good to bump a thread or start a new one to welcome Spradling to the Buff family and re-enforce that MacIntyre is re-building a lot of bridges in CO that were destroyed after Barnett.

This is how washington turned it around. They got some fast walk ons and had them play special teams. Talent at practices got better and they started winning more games

If by active you mean trolling Eric Lee then yes

Scav bumped the thread talking about Spradling's commit to SDSU with the latest news.

Any reaction from the peanut gallery on the news?

From CU fans? Yes
From the other idiots? Nope

Proof that they just hate CU over there

Anyway, love the get and I love how HCMM understands the value of a strong walk on program.

Love getting players like this as walk ons. HCMM is definitely rebuilding relationships with the HS coaches and parents in the state. Good to see.

This is a good get, we may get frustrated with the speed of the rebuild and the coaches but HCMM at least has a map and can read it. RE-build relationships, leverage a strong PWO program, build with depth and age along the lines, and find speed on the edges where you can even if it is undersized.

Highlights also show him comfortable as a KR and PR, got a TD on each.

Based on how little production we got in our return game last year and a desire to keep our front line players healthy due to lack of depth might be an opportunity to contribute right away on STs.
