I just feel bad for #3. Poor guy is probably like what the hell, how am I supposed to tackle that?

Did you look at his hands? That football looks like one of those mini collectables in those mitts.

Didn't seem very fast, but I think he'd make a pretty solid TE that is fast enough to split out wide.

Or leave him at WR and just throw jump balls to him all day.

Type of kid you bring to your camp and work him at several positions. That frame and those huge hands might be well served at DE.

The big question regarding height is whether a tall WR can get in and out of his breaks. Darden has struggled with this at CU. So much with Holmes is going to depend on his footwork and body control. He won't need separation from a DB in order to be open. The key will be whether he can run college routes within the timing of the play. It's tough to gather and get up to speed at 6'7". If he can do it, though, watch out. Could be a weapon.

Yeah, I'm always a little concerned about tall receivers. That ball looks like a baseball in his hands though, definitely worth a look.

Would be a great TE prospect for the Buffs in the redzone.

Basketball stats for 2012-13 (first year on varsity):

    8.7 ppg
    6.3 rpg
    1.1 bpg

He shot 45% from 2pt range and 54% from the line.

Productive, but at Gateway's level of competition I would like to see a bit more from a guy Holmes' size. I haven't seen him play, but this reads like a kid who is just growing into his body and developing as an athlete. I really hope he camps with HCMM at CU this summer so the coaches can get some time with him and scout him closely.

On one side he seems like a red zone nightmare for opposing defenses on the other side he could be a long way from contributing in any facet of the game.

First year of Varsity on a bad team that won only 6 games? Perhaps he was just talked into playing? This team had a bunch of games where they scored about 30-40 points so averaging 9 per isn't so bad. Like to see the bpg around 4 though!

Transferring to Valley HS in W Des Moines didn't end up generating new offers for Holmes.

Had a decent season for a good team that made the state playoffs, though.

23 catches for 326 yards and 2 TDs
    .

Maybe a prep school year for him to continue polishing his football skills? I'd love him as a CU walk-on, but now I think he'd be in a position where he'd have to pay OOS tuition.
