    ESPN scouting report:

    ESPN Analyst
    Updated 04/16/2014

    Strengths:
Lombard is a heady point guard with crafty ball skills and he plays with purpose of mind on every possession. He is a straight-line attacker with very little wiggle to his game, but he can come to a jump stop, rise up, and nail the jump shot. His head is always up and he advances the ball well in transition. He knows how to move without the ball and he understands how to come off screens to get his shot off.

    Weaknesses:
Lombard is just a fair athlete and it will be interesting to see how his frame evolves going forward. He needs to learn how to change speeds to keep quicker defenders from crowding him. In addition, improving his off hand will allow him to expand his pull-up game. Learning to run the high screen and roll and pick and pop will enhance his game as well.

    Bottom Line:
Lombard is a solid looking prospect who understands how to play this game. However, he needs to continue to get stronger with the ball against pressure and continue to improve his point guard skills.

Awesome. Welcome. Always love kids making that committment to be Buffs on their own dime. Looks like a solid Colorado player. Seems to have similar game to Eli, should we read anything into this

Will has both coached and scouted Lombard. He's very high on him. A couple inches too short. Not an explosive athlete. But the game is there and he could very well have played at low-D1 on scholarship if he didn't bleed black & gold.

Is he going up against Josh Perkins in the Video. 7:30ish mark. Looks like him but prolly not.

Looks like a solid walk-on player. He's only going to improve, as well as make the team better in practice. Roll Tad! Welcome young Man!

Normally with WO you are looking at practice player. This is a WO who could legitimately be competing for playing time when it still matters.

He won'tt ever be a star but could be solid depth piece.

    Tad is amazing.

Definitely a star for our "Larry Bird Squad". Maybe a guy, if he can show a reliable handle and be a knockdown free throw shooter, that Tad would put on the court in certain game situations once he has developed.

If nothing else...it is injury protection...something happens to a rotation guy he would be quality enough to fill into the rotation....kind of like Jared Paulson did for Kentucky 2 years ago

In before this season's "Practices will be harder than games" statements.

I love this move. Local players choosing to walk on at CU over a scholarship offer from another division I school is a huge asset in any sport. One more sign that Tad is building a lasting basketball culture here.

Have never seen him play so this is strictly from impressions here but I wonder if he might turn into the guy that we though Eli might be. Not a starter but a guy Tad can put out there for a few minutes to take charge of the tempo to the game and get the team into running the offense.

Mitch is 100x the player that Eli is. Okay, that's dramatic...but you get the point.

Surprised to hear that. Eli played on a great team against tough competition.

Eli's HS team probably had more talent than the Colorado State all-state team did that year.

Can be a positive and a negative. On the positive side he gets used to playing with that kind of talent and practice can be at a higher level than a lot of other kids get in games.

Negative is that with all that talent around him you don't know if he is that good or does his team make him look better. He certainly wasn't the focus of opponents defenses.

I had hoped for a lot more out of Eli than we got. He was brought in because he was expected to be a leader on the floor, a guy who helps the more talented players to be able to use their talents. Don't feel like we ever got that from him.

Other than us the kinds of offers that Eli had weren't much better than what Lombard has and if Lombard doesn't turn out to be a contributor we aren't on the hook for a schollie.

Am I the only one disturbed by the jersies in the video?

I wonder if Tad gave him a good indication that he'd eventually earn a scholly?
