    From TCU bio:

2015: Appeared in all 13 games ... caught one pass for eight yards.

    2014:
Appeared in all 13 games ... served as the holder on field goals and extra-point attempts ... saw action at quarterback against Texas Tech, completing both of his passes for a total of 17 yards ... added a rush for two yards versus the Red Raiders.

2013: Redshirted in his first season on campus.

High School: Ranked by FOX Sports Next/Scout.com as the No. 12 quarterback in Texas and No. 67 in the nation ... District 8-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player and the Temple Daily Telegram Class 5A Co-Offensive Player of the Year as a senior ... passed for 2,175 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 941 yards and nine scores despite playing just nine games due to injury ... threw for 1,753 yards and ran for 766 as a junior ... chose TCU over Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Clemson, Minnesota and Syracuse.

Would be a good fit depth wise. However we know very little about his ability due to being stuck behind Boykin since he arrived at TCU. No harm in adding athleticism and giving us a safety net for 2017.

After announcing his transfer, Allen began following Mike MacIntyre, Klayton Adams, CUBuffs, and RunRalphieRun.

Had multiple P5 offers as a QB out of HS. We should give him every opportunity to come here and play QB with his dual threat abilities.

I would imagine he is going to want to decide soon. Summer workouts and summer semesters start very soon.

Based on the coaches that have started following him on twitter since he announced, there appears to be at least some interest from:

    Coastal Carolina
    Syracuse
    Rutgers

    Hawaii
    Texas State
    Austin Peay
    Auburn
    Hampton
    Palestine
    SMU

Does CU offer classroom graduate courses in the Summer semester or will he just enroll in thesis or independent study courses.

I would imagine the offer some summer graduate programs, at the very least, online versions.

Not knock on what Webb's goals, but in my academic view I appreciate the two years to play two seasons. Allen will have the opportunity to engage in his graduate program and earn his degree. This way he will have desirable tools for a post football life.

Worth noting he followed HCMM, CU Football, CUBuffs, and Klayton Adams immediately after announcing to transfer. Either we reached out to him immediately and he was interested or I guess he could've saw an opportunity but the former makes more sense.

I like our odds against all on that list; given the league profile + the opportunity to compete to be the starter.

I do too...but I'm beginning to doubt this staff's ability to seal the deal.

Well I mean there hasn't been much traction with Zach Allen either, haha. However I wouldn't mind that team up at all.

Could someone please explain the desire to have Allen on the team? He is a subpar QB and would probably never crack the WR depth chart, given our current signees and and commits. What exactly does he bring to the table?

I don't know how good he is. There's very little to go on. He's a heck of an athlete. CU's got no one in the 2017 junior or senior classes at QB. Even if he's nothing more than a mature senior backup to Montez in '17, that's very useful right now. And that's the worst case with him.

We do know his talent level at QB called for a position switch at his current school. Seems you might be overstating his value. This "heck of an athlete" caught 1 pass all season after the switch.

I would rather use that scholarship to build for the future than sign a guy who amounts to Gehrke 2.0.

Allen was the one who asked for the position switch because he thought it could help out the team when he knew he wasn't going to start, for the record. He still took QB reps in practice.

I'm not saying he is some great QB that was passed over due to circumstance, but he was behind Boykin at TCU. Nobody really knows if he is truly a subpar QB or not, because nobody has really seen him play. I think he would bring a dimension to the QB position that is severely needed and that's a true dual threat. He also adds balance to the position for the next 2 years and can't really be any worse than Gherke. Even if he can't beat out Sefo in 2016, he would provide competition for Montez in 2017, as Noyer is currently the only guy left at this point, and without Webb and possibly Falo, Dino and Samson, there could be 4 scholarships open. I don't see the downside here.

I'm glad he had a desire to get on the field rather than sit the bench, headstrong move. But that doesn't really raise his value much in my eyes.

Gehrke was an unrated JUCO QB with offers from CU and Weber State when he signed here. Saying a back up QB from TCU is "Gehrke 2.0" is pretty unfair.

But he's not a backup QB at TCU, he's a below average WR looking to transfer from TCU.

How so? If he can't be worse than Gehrke, where is the downside?

You said it right in your post. You tie up a valuable scholarship for two years on a guy you hope and pray we never have to put into a game situation.

I'm looking at this from a ROI perspective and I believe we can get a lot better value.
