Taken from the 2023 chart thread to show where things stand as we go into ESD and portal visits. Mods feel free to correct as you see fit. Removed all the Seniors and the handful of scholarship guys who have entered the portal so far. I'm sure there will be more to come. Currently sitting at 70 scholarships I believe, including the current 2024 commits.

First thoughts... I feel an entire overhaul coming in the OL group. I'd expect at least 3-4 more to leave from this group. Not sure about attrition to ILB, but that group needs at least 2-3 additions from the portal who are expected to start. Safety room is full and I have to think we'll see a couple guys leave. Also need two QBs; one in the Junior class, and one in 2024 class. Have to start looking at building that room for life after Shedeur.

Yeah, I also feel like Milliner-Jones is a CB now, right? Need some 3 to play 3 or 4 to play 4 transfer Safeties and/or a HS guy or two.

Two transfer TEs and two freshman would be ideal.

QB, Edge, and Safeties rooms are hilariously unbalanced.

TE room is hilariously sad.

I'm pretty sure a lot of those seniors exhausted their eligibility.

I looked through the roster on CU's site and everyone on it that is now in the Senior category was listed as a Grad Transfer with two to play two or a Junior. If you find someone specific that should be done, let me know and I can edit.

People have been asking me about returning starters. Going off of this, this is my best guess?

Offense:
QB - Shedeur Sanders
RB - Dylan Edwards (sorta)
WR - Jimmy Horn and Travis Hunter (sorta)
TE - Nope
OL - Savion Washington (maybe) and Bailey/Harden/Wilty (hope not)

Total: 6/11 (likely 5/11 or less)

Defense:
DL: Shane Cokes (Wallace, McNeill HM)
Edge: Derrick McClendon
LB: Lavonta Bentley
LB/S: Trevor Woods (maybe)
Safety: Shilo Sanders and Cam Silmon-Craig
CB: Travis Hunter and Cooper/McClain

Total: 8/11 (likely 7/11 or less)

Shilo has played in 5 seasons with one not counting. He should be out of eligibility

Carter Edwards - did he even participate in this last year? Sure feels like he has an agreement to stay and finish school.

I also feel Gustav and Carter Edwards have to be done, but the roster shows them as on the team and underclassmen so I kept them on.

I think the important thing is that we are currently at around 70 scholarships committed and I would expect at least another 6-8 opening up with attrition, right?

So around 20-25 more commitments incoming between now and May/June

Pretty sure I spotted Edwards suited up on the sidelines at multiple games. Can't imagine he stays though.

I think several of our starters aren't here yet...on both sides of the ball. Notably D line and O line.

Willie Gaines, Louis Passarello, Jack Bailey, Carter Edwards, McCrimmon, Isaiah Jatta, Chaz Wallace, JJ Hawkins, Joshka Gustav, Travis Jay

All guys who should be moved on from be it graduation or retiring IMHO.

Some of the linemen are going to have to move on with 7 newcomers already on board.

We fans don't really know the situation in many of these cases, but CFB has changed so much that you have to have a well resourced player development / scouting department. We are hitting the portal hard for OL as we've seen this weekend and you have to be targeted, selective, decisive - which it seems we have been.

This involves evaluating every single scholarship player in every practice and every game, plus noting work ethic and desire and willingness to get better. So many of our top recruits of the past (including many from in-state) just didn't care enough to want to sacrifice. Call it "want to". It's huge

A lot of what we have as fans is what these kids were rated as coming out of HS. Travis Jay for example. Didn't do much at FSU. Didn't do much here either. Was that due to injury? Or did FSU get us to take a scholarship off their back for them? I don't know. But these are the types of things that a comprehensive in-house talent department has to be working hard.

You got to have the resources to recruit, but I think it's become even more important to do better "overall talent" evaluation, which includes "want to", in order to succeed going forward. You can't give the wrong kids scholarships.

As the evolution of college football into a fully professional sport continues, I think we'll see some (smart) programs emulate the front office structure of other professional sports. General manager, scouting coordinator, etc.

We need LBs who can stuff the running game. Big 12 offenses run the ball more than Pac-12 offenses and there are a few good RBs facing the Buffs next season.

Updated to add Sheppard (Senior) and the Wade twins. Keaten is a 3 to play 2 guy I think so listed him as a Junior for 2024, while Destin is a 3 to play 3.

Also removed Gavin Kuld as I think he's a PWO and this is only scholarship players.

I believe we're up to 80 scholarships committed so far.

Edit: I realize I need to add a RS Freshman column as well
