Maybe because he was throwing out his leg to anybody that would look before the season and since the rocky start he's come out with questionable comments on his twitter account, and his flirtatious have only grown since then?

Parsons committed to CU. The coaches committed to him. I know in 2012 holding to commitments in an instant gratification era can be a tough thing but the kid has to look in the mirror or better yet contrast his commitment to represent the state of Colorado with that of 4* blue chip QB with Sefo. His commitment has been unwavering.

That doesn't mean you stop calling the best recruit in the 2013 class and the same kid who was recruiting kids to CU so heavily that his GF was getting pissed. The coaches need to be in contact with Mitch as much as the rules allow.

If I was him I'd look around to. The three teams we've played with a pulse, we got stomped and we lost to an abysmal CSU team and a FCS team and the tea isn't showing much improvement, hell we're regressing in a few areas.

Are we really still going with the "instant gratification" argument? After a 1-4 start and possibly staring 1-11 in the face?

The coaches are free to treat recruiting like they have a track record to fall back on (see: Gary Barnett), but I doubt it is a sound strategy in the long run.

'13 CO TE Mitchell Parsons (Verbal to Colorado)

Lets not get all judgy here guys. The above post is wild speculation based on limited data. Also, it comes off as a whole lot of whiney butthurt. Recruiting is a long and bumpy road. Lets remember you are talking about a guy who is still very likely to go to CU.

    Some sanity from Snow.

If I were Parsons I would be doing some looking as well. He's talented and has worked his butt off to get into a position to have choices, makes sense to at least look at those choices.

At the same time my impression is that he is looking for a reason to be a Buff. He wants to stay at home and he likes what CU has to offer. Unless we really screw up he isn't a lock but has a very high chance of ending up a Buff. CU is going to be a good situation for him with good young QBs on the way into the program and an offense that is built around making full use of the TE.

If he wants to look around, he should decommit. If he's committed to CU, he should not. It's like holding onto a girl because she's a guaranteed piece of ass until you eventually meet the lady you want to be your wife. How a person takes care of their business says a lot about them and what they bring to the table long term. Shame on me for following twitter updates (which I'm sure the coaching staff sees as well) but from what I've seen, I don't blame the coaches for being turned off, if in fact that is the case. Once gain, contrast the actions of our two highest rated recruits, Sefo vs Parsons. I know what traits I'm looking forward to getting on our team and in the locker room, and which ones will directly contribute to getting us out of this mess. Talent without the right attitude and mentality is meaningless, ie, see Darrell Scott.

Just stop. This is a recruit thread of a current commit. Take it elsewhere if you want to gripe about what is or isn't okay. With the track record of our current coaches, I definitely see this as okay.

James, I haven't said anything wrong. Would love to have Parsons but this day and age, the Sefo's of the world are far and few between. More props to him and those who are mature enough to get that.

Just realize it goes both ways. I must have missed your concerns about stealing Missouri commit Marcus Loud.

I understand respect is a two way street, and I offered that as a possible reason why the coaches and Parsons may have a disconnect. There is evidence of disrespect on the internet. I'll leave it at that. It's not rocket science.

You understand it's a two way street but its ok for Loud to look around when he was with Mizzou but not for Parsons? Makes sense

The coaches have to uphold their end of the bargain in this as well. I'm sure te staff pumped this season as being a bowl game one and they fell flat on their faces with that prediction.

If you take recruiting personally, you probably shouldn't follow it until signing day.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with anybody taking every visit they can, but I also believe that if you want to go visiting you are not "committed." I hope this young lad makes a good decision for his future.

Editorial note: While I understand the whole recruiting sales pitch thing... What have we done to have our 17 year old boys all butt hurt when they haven't received a call in a week? Has the recruiting  toward big, tough football players turned them into high school girls?

Committed only means what the school and the player agree it means. Nick Sherry was committed to CU, and not looking around. At the same time Brock Berglund was committed as well.

At the end of the process the only thing that is for sure is when a kid signs the LOI and the school accepts it and admits him.

As I stated before I get a sense that Parsons really wants to be a Buff. At the same time he is good enough to have plenty of other schools interested. He has a right to look around a little and if he does end up signing with the Buffs as I think likely will in the end he will be more secure in his decision.

Who ever said I thought that was ok? Is this a Marcus Loud thread or a Mitch Parsons thread?

The article comes off very one sided. "CU's not calling me..."

Wonder why that is. We should all immediately assume the coaches are at fault...

Well I haven't heard any bitching from you about Loud not honoring his commitment to Mizzou so...

People only care when it potentially affects CU in a negative way

I don't have a problem with it. The kid wants to play for a school where the coach will be for awhile, and is probably worried that place isn't here.

Lots of kids back out of their commitments, ask Oregon if they think they'd be better off without DAT.

What have we done? A lot. Coaches send mounds and mounds of text messages, emails, letters in the mail, etc... We pay those coaches. Our situation at here has shown that talent is just as, if not more so, important than coaching; this is also reflected all throughout CFB (look at Auburn and Newton). If we had a play maker at QB or WR our team would instantly be better, even if we still had the same OL.

There are a lot of pay sites that cater to recruiting as well as this board. You don't think recruits have access to scout/rivals/allbuffs? We've had numerous recruits come here over the years, especially the non-qualifiers and tell us that they are going to make sure they come to dear ole CU. The players on the team are fully aware of this board. They know if they are a 4* or 5* player or a lowly 2*, or if they were out of HS.

The wining and dining of recruits goes back to the Switzer (and probably before) age. You hear stories of boosters and parties and $$$. College football is big money and these kids are part of the product. If they aren't "shown love" then there are plenty of other teams that will do so. If I was one of the best in my field and I had a 100 offers from companies all around the country I'd sure as hell take their courting as a sign of interest, especially if others are raising the stakes whether that's benefits, location, prestige, etc.... If I had told a company in a non-binding way that I'd work for them on Feb 4, but was ignored and someone came along with an offer just as good, but with a few added perks I'd reconsider as well. It'd be in my best interest to. I don't want to work for an employer that isn't fully vested in me.

I would be man (boy) enough to tell the school that I am still looking around though, that is how I was raised...And if you are that sure of yourself then you would not be worried about telling them either

The player in question is a 4*. Given that we aren't recruiting well at all the coaches would be absolutely stupid to not sign him, even if he looks elsewhere. It's not as if we are a decent football school now--in fact, we are piss poor--and can pass on a 4* for a different high 3*/low 4* player. This coaching staff seems to think that a CU offer is what it was in '92 and some of that stems from when they were here, imo, and being alums. These kids were born in '92, if not later. This staff's ego is ridiculous if there aren't any major warning signs and it seems as if they are trying even harder than Hawk to find diamonds in the rough and prove their critics wrong. They've had a good eye on some players, but it looks like they are whiffing on many others in this class.

It's not like you know that he hasn't told the staff or that they haven't heard it through the grapevine. Coaching circles are small and word gets around fast.

Verbal commitments are like being engaged -- not married.

If your fiancé puts out the word that he/she wants to hear from some other suitors before the wedding date (signing day)... are you still engaged or are you just in the lead to win his/her hand?

I don't blame the suitors. I don't blame the person verbally committed either (because this goes the other direction, too where schools try to get a Plan B to wait around just in case).

The only time I would question ethics is if some school was breaking rules or a recruit was asking it to.

“I don’t know what my situation is with them right now,” he said. “Washington, Cal, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt have all called but I haven’t received a call all week from Colorado. I don’t know what the deal is."
You are committed, the deal is that they expect you to be on the field next fall. Why have our coaches not stayed in contact, that is concerning. Seems like he is looking for a way out not that he is looking for a reason to be a buff as was suggested earlier

It feels like we knocked up the hot chick when she was drunk and now she woke up and is looking for the best way to end this on a friendly note.
