Any chance CU will move the date of the Spring Game?

I just noticed that CU's spring game is the same day as the first day of the NFL Draft. Seems to me that if they're trying to get a bunch of people to make the trip to Boulder, going up against the Draft is a bad idea. Particularly with the added intrigue of this being McDaniels first draft and all.

Any chance they move it? If they wanted to, would they be allowed to, or is there some kind of NCAA regulation that would keep them from doing so?

Well, as has been mentioned 10,000 times on this site, Colorado is an overwhelmingly Broncos-tuned state. There are 3 weekends in April that have no relevance to Broncos fans whatsoever, why schedule the game on the 1 weekend that does?

I don't think that the draft will have much effect on attendance at the spring game, either way

Maybe they chose the wrong day to have the spring game but they already moved it so the injured players from last year could participate.

Who cares about the draft. Use your cell phone. Somebody suggested putting on Buffvision so people could watch.

I'm out of town that weekend so I won't be seeing either as they happen, I'd just like to see attendance be as high as possible.

Honestly is watching the NFL draft in which no Buffs have a big chance at going anywhere on the first day (exception maybe, maybe Hypolite) more important than the Spring Game? If you want to know who the Broncos draft, I will personally send you a text message with the players name, position and college if you so choose.

GET OUT THEIR AND SUPPORT OUR DAMN TEAM, WHO GIVES A FLYING **** ABOUT THE NFL DRAFT! All the draft consists of is the players in the first round walking up and grabbing a jersey and taking a picture, get on youtube after the spring game and you can watch that.

The window of opportunity for Spring practice and the game is rather narrow, and the Buffs have routinely tried to wait as long as possible so the chances of good weather are better and yet still not bump up against finals.

The draft will not have any impact to the game's attendance as the Spring game is not something a casual fan would attend anyway.

Hey man, the logic here is sound. There are 2 important events in all of April for football fans in Colorado: The NFL Draft and the CU Spring Game. Unless there are no other options, putting them both on the same day just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'll admit it would be pretty absurd to move it at this point (surprisingly, not much thinking time passed between the moment I realized this scheduling cluster and my creating this thread), but unless CU's hands were completely tied I think it would make sense to avoid having their spring game during the draft.

Whoever scheduled the spring game should get the "epic fail".

That was a dumb move! Plenty of other days to schedule the spring game.

Always seems to me like the NFL draft goes on forever. Friggin' endless.

Take a break, watch the spring game, follow the draft on your favorite form of portable media, and enjoy some sunshine. Just a couple hours out of the pressing NFL draft coverage, really.

Seriously. I've never known anyone who has a 'draft party' or who glues themselves to the TV for hours. Most folks I know maybe watch the first two rounds, then do other ****.

And as another poster said - people who are going to the spring game in the first place aren't going to be the type of people distracted by the NFL draft.

CU "fans" missing the Spring game to watch the NFL draft = epic fail.

Man even that is a stretch. They shortened the amount of time teams had to make their picks last year and the first round still took over 3 1/2 hours. They also changed it so the first day was only two rounds. I think most people with an interest in the draft leave ESPN on or track it online and just take a look every so often to see what the last few picks were. They might actually sit down to watch what the first couple picks are and then their own team's picks, and that's it. The only people that are going to stay glued to the couch for 6 hour draft marathons don't care about CU football to begin with.

The weather is going to determine attendance, not the draft. And I get NFL network on my phone so I'm good:smile2:

Do you guys not understand that there are two football related events from Feb to August and they are scheduled on the same day? I agree that the draft is not something that is a must see, but it sure makes it easier to stay at home if the weather is bad and you have a few other things going on in life.

With the Broncos destined for an interesting draft this year, this can't help attendance.

I have a hair appointment scheduled that day, do you think CU could change the game for me?

And that's what we're saying. The draft is just another in a long line of excuses to stay home. If a person chooses the draft over the Spring game, they most likely would find some other excuse to skip it if it was scheduled for a different reason.

Well, whoever scheduled it, sure wasn't trying to get the most people out for this event.

I don't know why you are questioning if I am a fan, I am not talking about myself, I am talking about the typical fan, who may or may not come. If they are looking for large numbers and start the season off right with tons of support they could have picked the next weekend, or the one before that.

I guess it just sounds like you're referring to yourself. Not the typical fan.

They planned it like this to allow some of our injured kids some time to heal before spring ball.

There's two minor things in college called "Spring Break" and "Final Exams." When you move back Spring ball to allow some injured players to fully heal, you need to take into account these two minor details. There's only so much wriggle room.
