Anybody have any ideas for what post pre-season magazines will have the confrence?

    South
    1. Oklahoma
    2. Texas
    3. A&M
    4. OSU
    5. Tech
    6. Baylor

    North
    1. Mizzou I think they will be the clear favorites to re-peat with Daniel and all those weapons
    2. Colorado I have a gut feeling Phil Steele will have CU up here,. And most magazines two years ago said look out for CU in two years. D-Scott could make a huge difference and make the buffs division contenders. schedule, but could give buffs advantage in confrence play as long as they don't lose confidence. Also the buffs will be much more experienced on offense next year.
    3. Nebraska The offense was good last year, the defense was horrible. Bo is a defensive minded coach and the D and passioin should be improved. Does the offense now take a step back? Two words: Shawn Watson:lol:
    4. Kansas state Prince has recruited to win now with the jucos, but I just don't see Prince being a great coach. He does have HAwks number, but I think that will start to change now.
    5. Kansas Last year was a fluke, just watch. I think everybody else thinks the same and KU gets to face OU annd UT this year, something they avoided last year.
    6. Iowa st

I'll agree with your take on the South. I don't think you give KU enough credit. They are a well coached football team that doesn't make a lot of mistakes. They're not losing a lot of players from the team that just won a BCS bowl game. I'll grant that they will have a much more difficult schedule this year, but they get CU at home. I'd say Missouri is the favorite, with CU/KU vying for that 2nd spot, and everybody else kind of in the same boat. It's going to take some time for Bo to get his stuff together, and KSU and ISU are schitzophrenic. I'm not sold on the new coaching staff in Stincoln. Time will tell, but a lot of them are retreads from other schools where they didn't exactly set the world on fire. We'll see.

I think that you can maybe put KSU in the mix for second place along with KU and CU. It depends upon how those 20, yes TWENTY, JUCO's they recruited work out. I think the assessment on KU is correct in that this will be a difficult year for them with the schedule becoming more difficult.

In the South, aTm could sneak into the two slot. Texass has to play Missouri, CU and KU. I think we have a good shot at them being in Boulder and MU should take them. I think they will beat KU, but that could end up a loss just as easily. Texass is 0-4 against OU and aTm the past two years. This could be a four loss year for them in the conference. I can't think that the wheels would come off completely for them, but the Okie Aggies and the Sand Aggies are no gimmees. Baylor should be a lock however.

No way Texas Tech finishes that far down in the South. I think they could finish as high as second. I would say it goes something like this:

    1. Oklahoma (Until proven otherwise)
    2. Texas (Dicey RB situation)
    3. Tech (Still have defensive issues)
    4. A&M (Not very good, I could see them finishing even lower than 4th)
    5. Okie Lite (Defensive issues)
    6. Baylor (Kirby Freeman might just lift them out of the cellar)

    In the North:

    1. Missouri-Some outstanding talent on offense. A BCS contender.
    2. Kansas-Very consistent last year. I don't think that changes next season.
    3. CU-Can't put us any higher than 3rd until I see how the secondary looks going into the season.
    4. NU-Might very well be playing for bowl eligibility the day after Thanksgiving again.
    5. Iowa State-This team improved as the season went on. I think that they can jump up and surprise some teams again.
    6. Kansas State-Might be the worst team in the entire conference next year. More new coaches and a ton of new players = more uncertainty. I think we will see the beginning of the end for Prince this year.

We tend to look down our noses at Tech because we have had a good deal of success against them. Same can be said for A&M. But the fact remains that Tech has one of the top receivers in the country and is coming off a year where they won a bowl game and beat up Oklahoma. OU looked positively pathetic in that game.

I tend to agree with BB about TTech. Leach actually recruited on the dedensive side of the ball the past 2 years, and i think on offense they only lose a player or two. I know the o-line is back intact. They have a cupcake OOC again, and they have Texas at home, but OU in Norman, havent looked or know the rest of their conf. schedule but I think its quite favorable.

Texas, they lose all their starting wide-outs, and RB, but have their QB back and their o-line. The bigger question mark is their losses on defense in the interior line and lb and secondary, in addition to a new d-coord and a new scheme, 3rd in 3 years now.

I agree with the #1 slot in the South division.....:smile2:
