I rarely get out of the office before five, but yesterday I did and caught Big Al and D-Mac on the radio. Who knew it was going to be fecal radio? They were interviewing Rick Reilly. It made me want to puke listening to him so obviously pander himself to sell another book. He was going on and on about what a great CU fan he is, how he dislikes NU, knows MB (actually claims to have grown up with him), wonders aloud why Hawk is still there and how he's back in the CU media guide. I couldn't believe Big Al played along with that. I still am a Big Al fan but that was a defnite low point in his career IMO.

There are very few people I truly dislike. The hypocritical hack Reilly is one of them. If there is a bigger douche in sports reporting, I don't know who it is.

Reilly is a self-serving piece of ****. The way he acted during the end of Barnett's tenure was deplorable. I also loved how he talked about how Barnett should have had better control over his players and girls would not have been raped. Then, a couple months later, a girl got raped AT HIS HOUSE when his daughter had a party.

In all fairness, I came in part way through the interview. Maybe Big Al didn't completely lay down for Reilly, I don't know. I sure as heck am not going back and listening to the interview, even if it is posted, I am still recovering from the hypocrisy laced BS festival that was the part of the interview I heard. D-Mac was, however, was completely slobbering over Reilly. He thinks Reilly is great and would probably have Reilly's children if it were biologically possible, and for all I know, it may be.

Big Al did broach the subject by reading someone's text that asked Reilly something like, isn't there a responsibility to the truth? Reilly then went on as to how he was loyal to the truth and even though it was hard, (Reilly being a CU guy and all, yeah right) he had to **** all over GB and CU. Then he went on about his alky father to show his vulnerable side. Funny he didn't mention the sexual assault at his home shortly after he blames GB for the players' off campus behavior. One would think he would shoulder responsibility for the SA at his home, but no, Reilly doesn't see the hypocrisy. I only heard the last 5 minutes or so, but it was enough to require a shower when I got home.

I thought he was giving his diploma back? Rick is a scumbag who trashed cu during the scandal. AL should know better than to yuk it up with him. He should have called him out.

I guess I am the only one who could hear the muzzle that Al was wearing during the interview. It was a slow sports day, most of the show wasn't even about sports. I think we all know how Al feels about this guy.

You know what? I'm glad that Reilly is getting back in the fold. I'm still pissed at him and have some issues with how he can be patronizing/holier-than-thou at times. But he can also be funny and he's a good writer. He's also wealthy, is a CU alum and has a lot of influence in the national media. Doesn't hurt at all to have him on our side, guys.

Reilly did say one thing I agreed with, he thought the Pc 10 was a better fit for CU. Now that I know Reilly thinks that, I am reviewing my position on the matter.

Really? So when he cops a squirt on CU again because he thinks it will help his career, which is in my opinion exactly why he joined the pitchfork waving mob of infotainers during the "scandal", he'll have the credbility of being back on good terms with CU?

Exactly. He basically called Barnett a pimp for failing to police over 100 people and all of Boulder County (and in fact no charges were ever brought), when he couldn't police his own house.

Regarding'dmac' he's a useless piece of flotsam who is a complete waste of airspace.

I have no use for Reilly myself, but I can understand why the AD is getting chummy with him again. Like him or not, he's a very influential sports writer. He's a first class douchenozzle, too. Sometimes, you find yourself in the untenable situation of making a deal with the Devil. We, as fans don't ever have to forgive him. I certainly won't. But the AD needs to have a short memory.

Oh don't even get me started DBT. Reilly is a dooshy-hypocrite, but it's not like he's some sort of Hawkin's apologist or something.

Even though I consider RR a POS for his rantings while GB was here, I'd rather have him in our corner again than bashing us again and again over the internet. In the years he's been a writer for es pee n, If he were to start writing positive things about the Buffs again I might be able to cut him a little more slack. (not) But then that would make DH look good too. Although I can't remember one time when he trashed Hawkins with his pen the way he did GB.

I think that Rick Reilly showed his true colors during the GB "Scandal" era. While you say it's better to have him on our side, I see no indication from him that he's actually on our side. Rick Reilly goes whichever way the wind blows. He's a self-righteous, disingenuous, smug soap boxer. It's sad, because he used to be a good writer.

Oh, and by the way, the sexual assault that occurred in Rick Reilly's OWN house while he left his kids at home alone to go out to dinner with his wife happened two months BEFORE he started using the last page of SI as his platform to start trashing his alma mater and GB for "not policing his own kids." No one, as far as I can tell, has ever once called him out on this. Those in glass houses shouldn't cast stones.

I have no idea what he's like in real life; he could be a nice guy, but if he's anything like his blowhard character in his articles he's a nonsensical jerk. I'm sickened and disgusted that the new administration seems to be "buddy buddy" with the guy, even letting him write some piece recently about how those "crazy Boulder hippies have built a 0 waste facility, isn't that funny, OMG I'm old and can't ride my bike without getting sore anymore, HAW HAW HAW ."

As far as I'm concerned, and as far as you and the rest of the school and alumni base should be concerned, RR is not a CU alumni nor part of the CU family any more. He claimed to not wear his ring in public anymore, then I vow to hold him to that. Let him be ashamed. Let him cut ties with the university. You can't go back on that.

This program has enough enemies without having to put up with such mudslinging from one of its own.

    Seriously.

Unless he's cutting a check I don't see any impact of Bohn being nice to Rick Reilly. Potential students or recruits aren't going to be swayed by some writer to come to CU.
