Hes 76-16 in his 7 seasons at Montana, and his team is currently 10-0. His only connection to Colorado is that he coached for the Buffs under Slick Rick.

    Just throwing it out there....

Pulling someone from the WAC didn't work out, so I certainly wouldn't want to go the I-AA route.

Hauck sounds too much like Hawk. :smile2:

Seriously though, I would like us to get a coordinator who has coached at big time programs and knows what it takes at this level.

Slick Rick ties = no way in my book. As bad as this year is, I want no reminders of Slick to ever darken the program again.

    Going Sinker...

It might be an upgrade though, as Hawk struggled against I-AA:smile2:

NO....we need a BCS coach/or assistant (offensive or defensive), someone who understands the BIG 12 and how to recruit and coach at this level...just my opinion

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You can't think everyone who is at a lower tier right now is as bad of a coach as Hawk.

Hawk failed here, but Houston Nutt came from BSU and has been a solid coach at Arky & now at Ole Miss. Chris Petersen might end up a good coach elsewhere also.

Hawk just makes everyone look bad.

I pray that the next guy is a hot coordinator or HC from a BCS or maybe MWC. These guys will be names the recruits will recognize. I want nothing more to do with the little league guys.

Hauck was a defensive assistant for 4 seasons here at Colorado, and 4 seasons at Washington before taking over at Montana.

He atleast has some experience in the BCS conferences.

If we let the Hawk go, you're going to have to lower your expectations a little bit in terms of who we can get.

    Which candidates ya thinkin' of?

I think there are a lot of "hot" coordinators from big time programs who would take the Colorado job.

It seems like the BCS head coaches that have a lot of success cut their teeth in BCS programs (even if their only head coaching experience is on a lower level). I believe this is vitally important.

Actually, can anyone name a single successful BCS head coach working today who did not have experience at the BCS level?

I absolutely disagree. If Bohn is committed to winning he will not lower expectations. Besides, I think you underestimate the appeal and potential of Colorado.

No, we don't need anymore wac coaches and no-names who can't recruit texas. If bohn doesn't start finding head coaches around here who can keep of from the bottom in most sports, he needs to be fired also.

I was referring to the buyout factor, not the appeal of the program.

Tressel was an assistant at Syracuse and Ohio State.

Meyer was an assistant at Ohio State and Notre Dame.

They both had significant BCS experience on their resumes.

I think hes counting assistant jobs for BCS schools as well.

Meyer was at Notre Dame, and Tressel was at tOSU in the 80's.

The only big-time coach I can think of who has success without BCS experience is Gary Patterson, what hes done at TCU is amazing.

Paul Johnson at Ga Tech also comes to mind.

I just found one, though. Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech had never coached in a BCS program before.

I had just edited that in my post, how about we both share the discovery.

Beamer at Va Tech also had no experience at a BCS conference school.

Patterson's not at a BCS program. And he did work at Kansas State as a graduate assistant.

    I just got Johnson. :smile2:

And they were both at Navy, so maybe there's something to working at a service academy. :hmmm:

You can have all the credit.

Beamer was a GA at Maryland, so he did get to work on a BCS staff and see how the big boys do things.

    Winner.

I bet there are a few in the Big East.

Edit: Checked the Big East coaches and all the other successful ones (Edsall, Schiano, Leavitt, Wannstedt & Stewart) had all been on BCS staffs before.
