aggies may be sobering up, but i think T.Boone may be going the other direction...
He needs to give up and start doing DentuCream commercials.
I like what he is saying.
Maybe if everyone trust Boone so much he can replace Beebe.
it's the dementia talking
That must have been one hell of a kegger.
So if Rick Perry saves the Big 12 will that be one of his campaign talking points during the election?
Despite the insistence the Okie light is joined at the hip to OU, that doesn't neccessarily apply outside of Oklahoma. Just like with K-State there is no guarantee that Okie light is going to be included in conference invitations just because they are OU's little brother. The collapse of the Big XII is a very real possibility. The idea that OU would be left out in the cold may sound crazy but it is not so crazy to think that they may only get invitations with their name on them, not OSU.
If it comes down to OU going to a MWC or C-USA or even a revived Big East with OSU or to the PAC or SEC alone the Cowboys better start looking for a home. The Okalahoma government can try to force their hand but ultimately the decision lies with the conferences not the Oklahoma politicians.
T. Boone knows this and I think he and a lot of others at schools that aren't guaranteed a soft landing are getting very worried.
Mtn - word down here is that okie lite has been "exploring" their own options. Their prez made a statement to that fact earlier, but I can't remember exactly when. I think they know that their situation could become tenuous.
That said, the 2 ok schools do share some leadership, so there will be some academia politics to overcome. However, I don't think that OU/OSU are bound together as tightly as KU/kjsu.
Didn't we hear last year that the Kansas state government had basically "untied" KU and KjSU because they didn't want their state to be left entirely out in the cold? I was almost positive that was what we were hearing previously. I don't know why that would change at this point since tying KjSU to KU is effectively tying an anchor around the whole state. Better to have one school included than to have your entire state excluded.
Pitt and the Cuse bailing on the Big East is probably a good thing for KSU....they might backdoor into some hybrid conference vs. the MWC which seems their likely home now.
Oklahoma and Okie State will be a package deal. OU President already said they were going to go together.
****, TBoone should just start reading Allbuffs to find out what the **** the Big X-2-? is going to do. We have the Junta and all the most knowledgable posters in all of CFB! FACT! Not a need to go anywhere else.
Sarcasm font relating to all of the rumors that get floated around - not meaning to be an ahole to the board! In all seriousness, T-Boone is a wrinkled old **** with a huge wallet that he thinks can buy anything and anyone. Would love to see him and OSU out in the cold when this is all done.
That was not sarcasm font was it? ****ing A it looks weird in Italics.
Maybe I picked the wrong one. I picked Comic Sans MF and hit italics to make sure it did not look too serious. Sorry
What they say publicly and the reality of what they end up doing could be two very different things. Not saying that they will be separated but that is a real possibility. The politicos and the donors can say anything they want, the major conferences have the power to say what they don't want and the Okies don't have the leverage to force the issue in the end. If Okie decides to make it a take it or leave it deal they know that the answer may be leave it.
What is Aggie supposed to be' sobering up' to?The fact that they are damn glad they got off that sinking ship and Baylor is a bunch of assholes?
Oh, I didn't take you seriously. I was just wondering :wtf: was that font.
Don't be surprised if A&M stays in the Big 12, and there's a big "kumbaya" moment in Austin.
This is the gold star quote from T. Boone. He thinks that playing USC in Stoolwater once every 8 years is "not much of a deal" for the pokes. I agree, however it's a much better deal than USC would get--having to actually visit Stoolwater once every 8 years.
If T Boone don't like the move to the Pac, I don't see how OSU can do it. He owns that school.
Not gonna happen. Aggie is gone. They head faked last year. They have to go this time. I'd be TBDs stash of gold on it!
This is truly amazing.... watching this drama unfold...
T Boone: Please contribute a meaningful sum to every Big Tex member to coax them to stay. Or at least go to the bargaining table with rest of the Big Tex leadership and save that conference.
Viva la Big Tex! Viva!
T. Boone only needs to pledge $160 million to aTm if they'l stay.
Back to my original prediction: OU, KU, Mizzou and UT to the PAC16. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to the SEC, where academics aren't so important.
I would heart that plan.
